are not clones? That we come from different backgrounds, cultures, and levels of education? That we are sinners and far from perfect? That the thing that unifies us is the belief that Christ paid the price for our sin with His life? That many of us disagree on politics and basic issues? That we suffer life's tragedies and circumstances like everyone else? That we accept that something bigger than us created the complex universe? That it's humility, love, and sometimes desperation that brought us to Christ in the first place? Just wondering...

This is directed to those who seem to be under the delusion that all Christians think and act alike. Just wanted to point out the error, no other point than that.

Non-Christian.

I'm aware of that. My three closest friends are:

* Army brat, Southern (German descent), politically moderate, Lutheran.

* Canadian (Toronto), second-generation Chinese, politically conservative, non-denominational Christian.

* Western movie buff, Indiana resident (local), half-Italian/half-Irish, politically liberal, Catholic.

How much more different can you get between these three? I don't know that you can get much more different anyway.

The problem is that the blowhards and money-minded are far louder than you, or any of my friends, and because they talk about Jesus a lot and live nothing like Jesus, what I see around me with my friends is drastically different than the crappy behavior of some Christians I hear about on the news.

Don't let the bad guys speak for you anymore. :)

Good luck on trying to break the generalizations people have. Every group in here does it. It's one of the biggest problems in this place... people are relying on generalizations based on the labels we use to identify with others and claiming that it is fact... absolute... without exception. I'd like to think, though, that most people (with any kind of intelligence) would know that real life is not like that. People will remember a bad apple quicker than they will the good.

Do Christians know that non-believers are not .......... and all you said.

Looking at the Q & A on this website, I get the impression that Christians feel that anyone who does not believe in their God is ignorant, lacks faith in anything, is aggressive and belligerent, is uneducated, without intelligence, etc.

Perhaps you could consider that non-believers have come to their conclusion after careful, intelligent thinking based on logic and reason. And another thing, non-believers do know, can experience and do show love and compassion.

Yes, I understand it. My problem is how many Christians use particular doctrinal interpretations to advance cruel and irrational beliefs (earth 6,000 years old, etc). Or rely on extremists such as Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson.

Yes, you do realize that most non-believers are surrounded by friends and family that hold different beliefs, including Christians. My husband is a Christian, as are much of my family and many of my friends.

Yes, of course.....but do Christians realize that to non believers you often just look like cogs of a big machine?

Yes, buddy. they wouldn't know if they were not taught the Christian religion or read about the Christian religion. They would just pattern all Christians to Jesus or what they know about Jesus and the apostles and disciples.

Excellent question! Of course, as you can tell by the responses, some people still don't get it, but you worded it very well. Thanks for taking the time to post that!

Of course we do! Because we are all human! It's just that you prefer to derive comfort through Christianity, and we don't.
