If and when the draft were to return, I sadly am too old to be drafted, however I would make sure I joined up to perform some duty or task. I think that although its not that ethical of a route to take in order to pad the numbers in our military, its a way to do things, and its something that if done right can serve us really well.
The draft in its original form was horribly maligned and its funny that people who could afford to go to college were afforded a pass, and all of those poor youths that didnt have a chance for any of that ended up being in Vietnam. Now that the way things work have changed, I think that it would be a completely different system to what history has taught us, and I think it would also allow for people to be compensated for their draft eligibility. I think that would be the only way to keep these people happy.
The country will also have its group that oppose such programs, however, things dont get done unless there are alternate reasons why and why not to do them. If the the draft were to come back, it wouldnt be a bad thing, it would just have to be a lot more organized firstly and then, of course it would have to be fair. It would have to have a balance that can be understood clearly, no small print, none of that. The only question I could make from this is, would people be required to serve their year and then they'd be eligible to terminate their military ties, or would people have to be in service for the 4 years etc...?

What are you talking about China? With that I am a little confused, for I have heard nothing about that. I'm slightly more concerned about Iran, oh and if the institute a draft I will be a conscientious objector or I will go to canada or mexico. This war is utterly stupid and if it wasn't for this one we wouldn't really be in any other war in the middle east. And as i've said before I don't know anything about China.

Well, if Hillary wins you may be right. I don't think you will see a lot of young people interested in serving under her leadership so recruitment will be way down.
Do you think that if Hillary gets elected and they re-institute the draft that girls will be drafted, too?

Finished doing my time 34 years ago. Tried to re-up in 2002. They told me I was too old. I guess I'll have to pass on the next one too.
Now if the French Foreign Legion invades the continental U.S., to rid us of a dangerous dictator, I can do my bit as an "insurgent".

I serve now, re-signing last year and returning back to duty after 15 years of being out of the service. I already came back.

The draft will only come in if Iran is asking for it. I would join if I could, but having already spent 23 years in the army, it's too late for me.

The war supporters and "Those" who beat the war drums will be the first to run away to Canada. All war supporters only support the war if other people fight their wars.
