I can't really tell by looking at the SFO terminal map. Many airports are remodeling in order to keep transferring passengers from having to go through security in order to keep the lines down at checkpoints. And you went through security at the airport you started at anyway.

You should be able to. Most airports (not all) are set up with all terminals interconnected so you don't have to pass through security when going from one to another.

To find out for sure you should call American and ask them.

You will have to go through security a 2nd time. AA flights come in to terminal 3. Alaska flights go in/out of terminal 1.

Yes, they are in 2 seperate terminals that have seperate security checkpoints.
