Some people when they are under the influence of alcohol dont know what they do or say and others remember and are concious of what they do and say. It depends on the person!

It can go both ways. When you're drunk, a lot of time it makes you fearless, you all of a sudden have this confidence that you didn't have before. You can tell someone you like that you are attracted to them, there is no shame when you're drunk.
You also can go the other way and get more angry than you would when you're sober, and say things that are mean, insulting, thoughtless.
I really think getting drunk makes you have no fear. It's called having beer muscles. You have no concept of consequences, you can say whatever's on your mind, good or bad, and not realize what the outcome will be. You aren't thinking you're too drunk to drive, you're thinking you can handle anything. And you are not thinking about what an a** you're being when you scream at your girl/boy friend for something and you're jealous. You're just freaking out.
You end up over reacting in every possible way, and have no judgement whatsoever.

Well a persons walls come down when they are drunk and are less inhibited. So, yes they are more likely to say what they would never say sober. Sometimes what a person says is 100% true, other times they are talking out of their behind especially if they are on a belligerent tirade, so the best thing to do is ask the person about what they said when they are sobered up and ask them if they meant it.

I would say yes and no. A few times when drunk I've said things I've never said before, but was thinking on a subconcious level (and by doing this, I've insulted some so-called "friends"). But sometimes I've said stupid crap just to have fun or to get a rise out of people because I'm drunk. Don't forget that alcohol affects people in different ways.

I think the truth comes out when a person is drunk because they aren't inhibited under the influence of alcohol. Chances are they won't remember what they said when they sober up but it doesn't excuse them for saying something that was hurtful even if it is the truth.

I would say that it does open people up, that's why it called a social lubricant. However, sometimes I do think people go beyond that, and things that seem funny in their mind aren't expressed how they should be because the person is losing control, thus what may have been meant as a joke is taken as an insult because there isn't a way to really tell.

We are all a balance of our separate parts. Alcohol suppresses some brain functions and brings others to the fore. What you say when drunk is part of what you have been thinking, but without the counter-argument. So you say what you have been thinking, but not necessarily what you really feel or mean. There is no counter-balance. When you are sober again you may think "I must have really felt that way because i said it" but it's not true, it's just harder to convince yourself or others because the words have been spoken.

issues they're afraid to assert, easily. issues they don't recommend...properly, i assume you ought to take it on context. For the most area, it really is more advantageous minor issues they don't recommend (declaring "i love you" to a stranger, as an celebration). i imagine that indignant drunks from time to time say hurtful issues they don't extremely recommend (like in the adventure that they are aggravated about some thing, they from time to time blow up over it for no reason). yet i ought to assert that it really is more advantageous probable that they are declaring some thing that they are too scared to assert at the same time as they're sober.

I used to be very wary of alcohol and two weeks ago I went to a St. Patricks Day party and got pretty much wasted... and I was scared later because I found it was fun. Why? Because I am normally reserved and when I had a few shots I was the life of the party. I could say and do things without being afraid of what everyone else was thinking about me. It's like being let out of your cage... just be careful and try to keep control. You could say something you will regret later.
C'est la vie.

people usually say that the truth comes out of a person when they're drunk but i think that sometimes people just say random things when they're drunk also... for example, I told my friend that I wanted to date him after I had a few drinks and the next day when he wanted to talk about it I just had to laugh in his face because I didn't like him at all
