I'm a Dutch guy, living in Romania. I don't know if it's a cultural thing or a religious thing. But maybe somebody knows something about Holy Water.
Anyway, a priest comes to my door, he wants to sell me Holy Water. 10 dollars for a bottle. He tells me to sprinkle it on my walls, then God will bring luck to my apartment.
It made me wonder if this is really how God works. Does he have 'precision bombs of luck' ? If I spray the water on my walls, are my neighbors safe too, since they share the same walls?
And a little extra question: He told me the water was cheap, because if I mix it with other water, that water also becomes Holy. Should I throw the water into the ocean to bring luck to the whole planet?

Holy Water is water that has been blessed and set apart for baptism. It is also used as a sacramental. Holy water is kept in the font, the church furnishing used for baptisms, which is typically located at either the entrance to the church (or sometimes in a separate room or building called a baptistery); its location at the entrance serves as a reminder of the centrality of baptism as the primary rite of initiation into the Christian faith. Smaller vessels, called stoups, are usually placed at the entrances of the church. As a reminder of baptism, Catholics dip their fingers in the holy water and make the sign of the cross when entering the church. The liturgy may begin on Sundays with the Rite of Blessing and Sprinkling Holy Water, in which holy water is sprinkled upon the congregation; this is called aspersion, from the Latin, to sprinkle. This ceremony dates back to the ninth century. An aspergill or aspergillum is a brush or branch used to sprinkle the water. An aspersorium is the vessel which holds the holy water and into which the aspergillum is dipped. Salt may be added to the water "where it is customary."

All I know is that, being an atheist, every time I come in contact with Holy Water I get severe rashes and even burns.
I wish I would help but I like to stay away.
Did the guy at least tell you the Holiness concentration of the water? Like 20 ppm or something? Because thowing it in the ocean would dilute the blessing right out of that sucker.

Holy water is water that has been prayed over but it is not to sprinkle on walls or anything. It is a showing of christian tradition is how I understand it. Using it is like showing others you believe in God. But there is a bunch of people saying it does things it doesnt without faith in God. It is someone trying to get your money sweety. If you need luck just pray

As far as I know holy water is water that has been blessed by a priest.
But this guy is just making 10 bucks off people.
Go to a church and you can have the priest bless the water for free.

Just because a guy who looks like a priest comes to your door and offers holy water for sale doesn't make him a priest, he could be scamming you pretending to be a priest!. Question do you want to take a chance of $10.00 to find out? That seems out of character for a priest. I would think a true priest would give blessed water away for salvation not $10.00! Just my thoughts! G=ME

This priest is not representing God. God doesn't work that way. God is not a good luck charm or in this case, water. The supposed priest is misinformed, misrepresenting, misusing, and ripping people off. His activity is not something directed by God.

It is a scam thing that you describe. I am not so sure the guy knocking on your door was a priest, but I am quite sure that he was not an honest man. Holy Water is water blessed by an ordained priest/deacon in the Anglican faith.

I don't know a whole lot about holy water....I had to ask FatherK for info. Something seems kinda fishy with that man coming to your door. My mother-in-law bought me a bottle. My husband told me to drink it (I assumed he was kidding.) I guess it's just blessed water that you sprinkle on stuff or you can put it on your forehead and bless yourself.
Throw it in the ocean and see what happens...

If this is true, it is very, very wrong. Holy water is not something to be bought or sold. If you want Holy water, just take a bottle of water to a priest and ask him to bless it. No charge.
