Who cares what Christians or any other religions think. I can think for myself thats why i dont let the church tell me that being gay is wrong!! I have many gay friends and i love them all!!! I am not gay but i totally accept gay people. I think its stupid that President Bush worries so much about homosexuality. Theres more important things to worry about. if someone worries too much about someone being gay or straight, then get a life!!! Its ok to like who ever you want to like, boy or girl!!! Everyone has their own beliefs, we can't shove one person's beliefs into the throats of everybody else!!

According to Romans 1:26-28, it is an unnatural act, which exchanges the will of the Creator for the will of the creation, and cause them not to acknowledge God.

According to 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, it is listed with fornication, idolatry, drunkenness, adultery, theft, and extortion as something that will keep you from inheriting the Kingdom of Heaven.

While there is not scripture that says "Homosexuality is a sin" in those exact words, anything that keeps you from acknowledging God or entering heaven sounds like a sin to me.

If we throw out the Bible, and deny the impression or life of God, then certain, there will be no sin of homosexuality. There would also be no longer some thing incorrect with homicide, or robbery. There will be no incorrect or ideal previous what a society consents as being incorrect or ideal. Human suffering would only be the organic results of life. Any association between life type and, say, sickness, will be considered as coincidental. someone who went round killing homosexuals because they see an association between homosexuality and a upward push of STDs that finally impression all will be no more suitable ideal, and by no potential more suitable incorrect than those who practice homosexuality. .

As a Roman Catholic, I can tell you that my religion does not condemn homosexuality as an orientation. We can't help who we are attracted to, and it's no one's choice to be homosexual; that is just a part of who they are. However, the Church believes that marriage is defined as a bond between a man and a women, and because all sex outside of marriage is considered a sin, there is no feasible way for homosexuals in the Church to have sex with people they are attracted to. Thus it is widely viewed in the Church that homosexuals are called to chastity as a way of life.

Of course, my answer stands for Catholicism only. Other Christian denominations may have completely different views on the subject of homosexuality.

One has to be very careful here. The fact that someone is oriented toward a person of a different, or same gender, is not sin, in itself. Therefore, in its truest form, homosexual preferences is not sin.

That said, the Bible clearly teaches that sex outside of a marriage between a man and a woman is sin. It doesn't matter if that sexual relationship is homosexual, premarital, or adulterous. See Romans 1:24-27.

This is where christians have a problem.

They say that each of us is a creation of God

So a homosexual is also a creation of God

And they say that God gave each of us a body and a mind filled with emotions, among which is the sexual emotion, one of the strongest ones.

Then, all of a sudden there are made-made rules against the expression of these emotions for at least 12 million Americans (latest statistics is that at least 4% of humans are born homosexual, some say higher).

So here we have 240 million people worldwide who are maligned, badgered, persecuted and ostracised because of the way God created them.

I find this a terrible paradox, especially when the catholic church deals with by saying "It is OK to be a homosexual BUT just DON'T HAVE SEX.

Perhaps there is some enlightenment in the future, considering that same sex marriages are now allowed in many countries and homosexual soldiers are allowed to serve their country and TV hosts are allowed to be adored by millions of watchers every day.

It is one of those problems that deserves more attention than quoting some hoary vese in Deuteronomy, written by some Jewish scribe, 3000 years ago.

Leviticus 18:22
'You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination.'

Deuteronomy 22:5
"A woman shall not wear man's clothing, nor shall a man put on a woman's clothing; for whoever does these things is an abomination to the LORD your God."

Romans 1:26-27
26 For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural,
27 and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.

1 Timothy 1:10
and immoral men and homosexuals and kidnappers and liars and perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound teaching,

Although I'm an atheist, Leviticus 18:22: “You shall not lie with a man as one lies with a woman, it is an abomination.”

Presumably the writers of the bible considered it a sin. I just think it's hideous - most christians think god wrote the bible...

It's also hideous that the answerer right below me seems to think that "Gluttony" means over eating. It is simply an archaic word for "greed"

YES!!..........The seventh Commandment covers all forms of illicit sex including homosexuality which is a major sin in the Western world today. Engaging in a homosexual act or entertaining the thought of lusting in one.........is sinning. That is called Lawlessness; breaking one of God's Commandments. There will be an automatic penalty to be paid in some form or another, as God sees fit........ Breaking God's Spiritual Laws are the major cause of the world's problems today. The majority of the world who consistently live in disobedience to God's Comandments reap the retributions attributed to their wayward actions of rebellious acts against the Spirit of God. God's Spiritual Laws do not change just as God's Laws of physics do not change. God set in motion the Law of Gravity and suspended the earth in its place. If you drop something it will automitically fall to the ground, correct?.......Well, the same holds true for God's Spiritual Laws; if you sin you will pay the "automatic" penalty for that sin no matter how small or how large. God does not change just as His Laws do not change. There can be no exceptions to the rule because if there was.......then why would we need God? Obeying His Commandments is what separates us from the rest of the world as true and faithful servants of God and gives us freedom from sin, freedom from the Lie of Life, and freedom to live according to the Word the Will and the Ways of God.

the act of homosexuality is a sin...yes! Paul reminds believers on several occassions to refrain from homosexual relations....God condemns the behavior of same-sex relations....among other things. Ever read the story of God destroying the cities of Soddom and Gomorrah? Homosexuality was one of many issues for which the people in these cities were destroyed.
