The scary way Satan looks was created by mans imagination...The bible says that he "keeps transforming himself into an angel of light." and yes he was the most beautiful angel at one point but have you ever noticed that when a beautiful person is really mean when you get to know them they don't look as beautiful as they did at first.

I don't know about his looks, but he would be very scary if I wasn't a Christian.

So from day dot, in our imagination from cartoons on tely etc... the evil look is not that of a sweet angelic one.

Also when God threw him out of heaven, he lost his title, hence his beauty!

Have you ever met a really good looking person at first sights and later on down the track when you get to know them -- realize that they are a nasty piece of work, you don't see any physical beauty then?

Sound like the scary looking one?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder...in this case, the creator. What you perceive as beautiful may, in fact, not be beautiful to god. Try drinking a few beers then look at Satan again. If he still looks the same, drink until he's Brad Pitt...

No one has ever seen him, people like to draw scary representations of him to match his character. Maybe he lost his beauty when he was thrown from heaven. Maybe he's still beautiful on the outside but ugly on the inside. I know a lot of human beings that are the same way.

These images are meant to decieve you into thinking that only gruesome, ugly, hideous things are evil. The truth is that the worst evil there is appears beautiful, and can give you a "warm, cuddly feeling", all the time drawing you away from the Living God.

Because in his opposition to God, he loses that which gave him his beauty, his likeness to God. The frightening images that humans use to convey the nature of Satan, are used as metaphors to communicate how Satan's opposition to God has so radically altered his angelic nature, that he is barely recognizable as an angelic being.

Satan does not look scary my friend. You are correct to say that he was/is beautiful - I'm sure he is. It seems that sinful things can be appealing - look good to us - so I believe that Satan looks good to people. BUT remember he is a liar - he comes to steal, kill and destroy - God is for us, not against us. See Satan for who he really is - ugly and evil. Blessings dear one.

Because as humans if He looks scary we'll be less likely to believe him where as the reverse is what is actually true. So the "pictures" of him are of human design and are probably as wrong as the human pictures of Jesus.

what you have seen are artists renditions of their concepts of Satan.
After turning away from God, I am sure he lost some of his luster and beauty. Evil and wickedness tends to cause the beautiful to become ugly.

The Christians in the late first and early second century painted him to look like a stereotypical Jew.
