Yep. I wouldn't sleep for 4 days at a time. Insomnia is only a symptom of a problem though. You get over it by fixing the underlying condition. Usually that condition is psychological. Like you are worried about something, or you just can't shut off your brain. Google for insomnia, and you will find all of the tips and tricks for resolving something like this.
In my case, the underlying condition to my insomnia was severe hyperthyroidism. Once the hyperthyroidism was under control, the insomnia got so much better. It took months to get the hyperthyroidism under control though, and I wouldn't have lived that long without sleep, so in the mean time I took inhuman doses of prescription sleep medication.

It means you can't sleep at night. There's a thin line between insomnia and just not being tired. If you just sit around all day, you might not be tired at night. Try to do something more physical in the daytime and you'll be more tired at night.

Try to clear your mind, get comfortable and relax your entire being.
Subliminal tapes are a great way to hypnotize yourself to sleep.

Well,I never did because I don't mind it.You can go to the doctor, and they will probably give you a prescription. If you're a caffeine fiend like myself, quit that.Wake up early one day,so you'll be tired later.Try to do alot during the day and don't leave work to be done at night.

Yes, I started exercising daily. It's helped a lot. I still have to take sleeping pills sometimes.

Boy I will say....but it is usually temporary for me and happens when I have way too much on my mind. Try to completely clear your mind before going to bed. As you lay in bed, begin concentrating on relaxation, starting with your hair and work down to the soles of your feet. You will actually begin feeling parts of your body totally relax. Most people will fall asleep long before they get to their feet, if they focus properly on the relaxation of each part of the body as they work down. Good luck.

My doctor prescribed Ambien... it works sometimes. Sometimes it doesn't. When it doesn't... if I can sleep 2 hours... I'm doing good.

Ya my mom has it. You don't get over it you can only treat it. You can try to do things that are more relaxing and drinking special herbs. Another option is sleeping pills.
