There are some basic tenets that one should understand and accept the concept of Vishnu. There is one God , with no form or body, the all pervasive energy , adishakti. Adi in sanskrit means the earliest and shankti is energy . Adishakti is therefore the source all energy . Energy or Adishaktii can create, maintain and destroy everything in the universe. The function of creation is metaphorically attributed to Brahma, the creator, the function of maintainence of what is created is again metaphorically attributed to Vishnu, the maintainer and the function of destruction is attributed to Shiva, the destroyer. Therefore all the three functions attributed to Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva in essence belong to God and God alone. There is no plurality of God but multiplicity of God,s actions. When you worship Vishnu you are in essence praying to God to preserve and maintain , say health, wealth, family,community,society,culture,nation,,universe.. The paganic practice of idolising or formalising the formless attributes of God is later corruption by the ignorant and selfrighteous sections of people. The concept of God does not need revision but most religions and beliefs certainly need reforms and modifications. Truth is absolute whereas the explanation of truth is not, therefore the need to constant reform. Your devotion to Vishnu can only be construed as devotion to God. There are no contradictions.

Yeah, didn't expect to see many responses to this question, I bet maybe 5% of people who post in this section even know what Vishnu is.
Worship Vishnu however you see fit. If you live in most countries you have the freedom to do so, so do not be intimidated by those who are ignorant to your beliefs.

Study, meditate and pray. Be what you want, how you want, how your God wants you to be. It doesn't matter what others see or think, what matters is being at peace with yourself.
