to me, it's nothing and it always has been.

The bible is a reference text for those who already have a life. For those who don't, it becomes an 'all or nothing' source of guidance. There are those who take pleasure in forcing others into living a interpretative lifestyle based on partial aspects of Scripture. I believe they simply need people around them to agree with their opinion. For example. if American Billionaires for Bush decided that the Bible says God rewards those with great wealth and power over others then that part of the Bible becomes validating proof that pure capitalism is God work. Or something like that. Their life is built on the losses of others. Its never all or nothing for these people.

Whatever people or the Bible say, I cannot take it as all or nothing. Would it not be foolish not to use the logic and questioning and inquisitive nature God has given us? Perhaps the Bible is meant to be questioned and disagreed with from time to time, and those who question it will believe despite their doubts. The most pious are those who qeustion, and are still faithful.
This is a response to the Bible, and has nothing to do with any other religion.

Support my answer--faith, the believe of the unseen as reality.
The Bible is a complete book. It is all or nothing. Somewhere in revelations (the last book of the Bible) it gives a warning to anyone who adds to or takes away from what is written. Sounds like God was answering the question before you asked it.

The bible is definitely "all or nothing." The scriptures say at 1 Timothy 3:16,17 that "All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, Â that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work.
You can never gain these things with only a portion of the bible. Peace to you.

It is helpful to read the books of the Bible. When you dissect to too much it can get weird.
But remember when you read the Bible you are imperfect as are all people and therefore your opinion, or anyone's cannot be given the authority of God.
This is the sin most common among Pastors these days. The lessons are up to you and God. It is history, it is common ground, it is bad examples too.

You can't just pick and choose.I read the bible a lot and try to understand what's meant to the best of my ability. That's all any of us can really do.
If you judge another for not interpreting the bible like you, that doesn't sound very Christian to me.There are weird things in the Bible like not to eat certain food.No one does that.I believe in Jesus.I pray to Him,love Him and hope He guides me to understand what He wants me to do with my life.

I believe all Religious Texts are like oceans. You have all you need in it. You could also live without going into the ocean - but who is the loser then?
