It depends on how fast you walk, of course, but most people take around 6-10 minutes to run a mile. So if you figured that you were walking twice as slow as you run...
I've give yourself about 20 minutes, because it's better to be early than late.

If you are not used to walking any distance, I'd allow 15 minutes. A lot would also depend on traffic conditions, and street crossings.

i walked the mile in highschool..ha..took me exactly 22 min. I'd leave a half hour before you need to be there, i always give myself extra time
