This is a word that I never know what to use and my husband (native speaker) has forgotten and just says sink. I'm referring to a sink such as what you find in a kitchen or bathroom.

By the way, I know the word fregadero, but I never actually hear it used by anyone in normal conversational Spanish. Not even my mother-in-law, who speaks only Spanish with me.

A Spaniard pronounces the soft C and a Z as TH. In Latin America, they pronounce both (and S) as S. Comparisons to English spellings/pronunciations. Clearly, your Oxford (a British - European company) is teaching you peninsular/European pronunciation, and Pimsleur, (An American company) is teaching you the Latin American pronunciation. Both are correct. It is NOT a lisp. A lisp is a speech impediment, caused by a deformity of the mouth. TH is the correct pronunciation of said letters, when in Spain. You wouldn't say an English speaker had a lisp simply because they pronounce TH as TH, would you?

Depends who you're talking to. Some people in El Salvador say "regadera", but most of us Mexicans say "lavamanos" or "lavaplatos".
