I dont think either party are truely aware of the true motives of the other. I think this misunderstanding has the power to go either way and that this hasnt been decided as yet.

Lets hope the press dont go ruining this one by getting out the wooden spoon, and let the two sides tentativly assume a peaceful resolution.

Yes it is an act of war. Literally kidnapping fifteen members of an armed force from another land? Bugs Bunny would look you straight in the eye and say " this means war". Life isn't that animated so I don' think that the British government is going to war over this.
The Iranians are doing a good job of deflecting international attention from the nuclear plants they have going. Plus you have to remember that they are old hands at this sort of stuff. Remember the U.S. Embassy fiasco? Carter bled on that one.
Unless the English are willing to go into an all out war then; the Iranians will keep the soldiers for as long as they frigging well please.

Not if they truly were in Iranian waters.. Of course we'll never really know, I wouldn't think anyways..

Edit: I really don't understand why people actually think they KNOW what the hell is going on!! Use some F'ing COMMON SENSE!! The Brits and the U.S. are going to say they were in Iraqi waters, no doubt. Why do people automatically assume that the Iranians are lying about this? If you want my opinion, how I really feel.. The Brits were spying on Iran, just like the U.S. does all the time.. And Iran got'em for it... It makes a hell of a lot of sense given the current situation. Iran had every right to take them, England should admit where they were and get their people back!! Plain and simple!!

Taking sailors an act of war? I don't believe so, cause for concern, yes.
The last time the U.S./U.K. had military exercises would have been in 1978, when Iran was led by U.S. backed Shaw.
And I don't know about the rifle, but it probably would be the AK-47 or the newer version, the AK-74

Yes.

And the Iranians use a multitude of different rifles, including the Ak-47 and the H&K G3. They have no standardized weaponry of any kind, cobbling resources together over the years since 1979, after the fall of the Shah.

No, they were in their waters and are entitled to take them in custody. Do you think we would let an Iranian military vessel remain in our coastal waters without taking them in tow?

The US and the UK are claiming they were in Iraqi waters, I guess assuming that the battle of who's it really was has not been settled and any military commander should know that. There are those, with access to the same information that do not agree!

The act of war, if they were in Iranian waters was by GB!

Why is it every little incident is an act of war? I wish you could all spend a year in combat and then say that!

It is the AK47 I believe!

Now they should be released!

The UK and US have never had military exercises with Iran. The act of aggression on the part of Iran is a free ticket to go in and knock the snot out of these ugly ragheads, and nobody would complain, well maybe Pelosi.

Hey, did you see where that stupid cow is planning a trip to Syria ? I guess she's cutting her false teeth of international diplomacy on one of the more honorable countries in the middle east ! I'm quite sure she will improve diplomatic relations with Syria, those ragheads just love deferring to women !

I believe the Iranian army uses older Italian rifles. They were bought used, but they had never been fired and only dropped once ! Or, maybe they were French !

Yes, it is an act of war.... and even if they had strayed a little bit into the wrong side, all the Iranians had to do was politely ask them to leave, and escort them back to the otherside, instead of this bloody carry on.

no it is not. but the iranians want a war - they do not fear death - it is in the Quran / Koran - the Holy book there. They are prepared to martyr themselves so the whole Islamic world rises up against the West and the Israeli empire !
