I have two love birds Bubu and Bebe, they resently laid two eggs. Bebe died near the eggs, can someone please tell me if its ok for the eggs and for Bubu to be in the same area as Bebe died in? Also why would Bebe die? Bebe is smaller than Bubu so i assume that Bubu is the female is this right?

This is sad. I not sure, there many causes, but, it not matter now. IF, Bebe died near the eggs the "she" may have laid the eggs and had problems. IF, you have the body, look for damage as in a fight, I not sure Love Birds would do this, but, Bubu may have attacked Bebe to defend the eggs. I not think it would happen, but, there would be signs of a fight if it did happen.

Bebe is probably the female, and probably died because she was egg bound. It is possible for them to lay eggs (not fertile, though) if they are both female, if you haven't actually seen them mating, that is more likely the case. Love birds normally lay 4-6 eggs in a clutch, so the fact that there were only two is what tells me it was probably egg binding. Egg bound means that the egg was stuck inside her, which can be caused by diet or even not getting enough sunlight. Birds get vitamin D-3 from sunlight, and it is used to build the shell on the egg. I'm very sorry for your loss.

bebe probably died near the eggs from a sickness going around. birds of any kind are prone to sickness. and it would be safe to let bubu where bebe was. and if you havent disposed of the dead bird the vet can find a more detailed cause of death. but congratulations on the baby love birds. and you should clean the cage or whatever you keep them in so it doesnt infect the babies.

The first thing I would have checked would have check to see if you was egg bound.
Egg binding is a common reproductive abnormality occurring most commonly in small birds such as lovebirds, finches, cockatiels, and parakeets (budgerigars). Egg binding is a failure in egg passage and laying in a normal amount of time. There are many factors that contribute to egg binding, but low calcium (hypocalcemia) is the most frequent cause. Hypocalcemia may occur because of a low calcium diet, a high fat diet that bind calcium, or abnormal metabolism of calcium by the body. Clinical signs may include weakness, depression, palpable egg in the abdomen, abdominal straining, wide stance, and sudden death. Depending on the severity of signs additional diagnostic tests may include blood work or radiographs (x-ray).

Treatment should begin first with stabilizing the bird, minimizing stress, and treating the underlying cause of egg binding. In the case of hypocalcemia, calcium is administered. The passage or removal of the egg may be attempted by your veterinarian using several methods.

But since there is nothing you can do now to hep her, just leave the aggs alone and let the Male care for them.

Birds are very good parents, including the males.
Generally Love Birds mate for life in the wild, but I have raised Love Birds that cheated on their mates.

It could have been anything. Refrigerate the body and take it to the vet for a necropsy (bird autopsy). This will be the only way that you can tell for sure what happened.

It could be an illness that you missed, egg binding, fumes from candles, TEFLON, or an air freshener, cancer, or many other things.
