Yes, it does seem utterly stupid, especially the Christian religion.

Love your enemies? Pray for those who curse your? Do NOT repay evil for evil? "Vengeance is mine, says the Lord, and I will repay it"? Can't I take my own vengeance?

But the operative word here is "seem". Psychiatrists warn us today that before mental and (sometimes) physical healing can take place in me, I must be willing to forgive those I hate, even if I have a good reason to hate them. This is just one example.

If man had actually followed the Bible (not to be confused with the Church, which Charles Darwin did), we would have known thousands of years ago that the earth was a globe and that is rests on nothing, that some diseases are caused by agents (bacteria and viruses) that are contagious, about the water cycle, and so no.

It depends on which religion. Everyone says all religions preach only the good things. The difference is in the approach to God. True, but, there shouldn't be descrepancies, inconsistencies, contradictions and errors on the Way to Learning God. Instead of strenghthening your belief it just weakens it. How can an Almighty God make mistakes ? So, it depends on which religion you are talking about.

Jesus started a simple, pure way of life.
Others took it and put it in the churn-mill.
It has ended up a hypocritical abomination.
This was prophesied to happen. Acts 20:29,30.
Please do not confuse Christianity with christendom.
Christendom is a counterfeit copy!
The real Christianity is in the midst of raising its head.

Most story's of religion, like the bible, are not meant to be taken literally. The bible is an alliteration, meaning that the story simbolises actual events that did not literally take place. I don't think religion is at all 'stupid' but I deffinitely think some people are stupid for taking it completely literally.

No not really, religion answers a lot of people's needs for
security, hope and a sense of belonging.
The deeds committed in the name of religions are unutterably
stupid though,to put it mildly.

Yes it is, but you have to keep in mind that those suffering from it have been indoctrinated from childhood. It is not easy to escape the mind bending of religion. But it is important to show respect and be good be nice.
