why do most people ignore the sales girl when they walk into a store and are greeted... believe me the girl does not want to say hi to you either... i bet it gets a bit annoying to be constantly ignored actually i know it is... did your mother raise you to be rude... and before someone says it im not referring to those overly energetic sales people that like to follow people around and annoy them by trying to add on to their sale... just the ones that stand by the door sayig hello how are you...

you should always be nice to the sales person because if they think you were rude to them then they wont go through the effort of getting your size from the back even if they have 50 of them the will just say they dont have nymore and send you on your way... and then no one wins

Proper business rules of the world says that you`ve to treat your customers as a king.....there`s where the fuss`s..If you feel, you cannot act polite to the person you`re seeking to buy your product, you could just greet with rubbish and you`ld find no one`s around your place..To attract someone you`ve to provide some incentive, if not with attractive prices in your market, cute face, good smile and proper attitude that`ld work as wonder to win heart and lead prosperity to your business.. In present world, everyone knows this, so for the time being they pretend to be kings/queens when they step in a store...In my opinion, being a sales person there is nothing wrong for not getting replies of your greetings. Business and daily life rules should not be mixed up.

I'm actually a woman who has been ignored by these greeters standing at the door many times. So I want to say that some greeters are so rude!!!!
But I understand why you are a little bit mad at the customers who don't greet back to the greeters but you must know that these greeters are paid to greet people and the customers are not obligated to greet back to them. There is a big difference between the greeters and customers in that sense. But I totally understand the customers need to appreciate the greeter's job and say hello back to them to show their appreciation. But these days, many greeters don't greet customers so probably that's why, many customers don't even care about greeting back to them? I don't know???
I just want to say that I really like the greeters who really smile at the customers and greet them but I haven't really seen the kind of greeters these days. So I don't really want to care about this issue anymore. If they ignore me, that's fine. But if they greet me, I will greet them back.

Might be considered rude, but I don't really care to give a fake hi when I don't mean it. I also rarely smile and I'm not gonna fake it for the sake of not appearing rude. So if the girl doesn't want to say hi, why should I?

I was raised up to be polite to all strangers, you know, say bless you (hard these days) hold doors, help others up off the ground...important. It seems equally important to return a greeting. Especially if someone is going out of their way to greet another. Black Eyed Peas: Where is the love?

from my experience i never wanted to deal with the customers so it's fine by me if they just keep it moving, i figure they don't care about giving me a fake hello so why as an enlightened individual would i keep up the charade.
in some cultures and urban areas you're constantly bombarded by barkers yelling out for you to buy thier wares, so people who've spent time in that have learned to automatically tune out any sales person they havn't initiated and all that background chaos that's in a crowded area.

I always say hi, but I do have to say that if I am in mid-conversation with the person I am walking with, I think it is rude for a salesperson to interupt me. Good manners go both ways.

1- She was saying hi to someone else and I got embarrassed
2- She does not really seem to mean it (it is just her job)
3- I did not hear her
4- she will proceed to tell me about the "sale" and judge me when I do not lay down 60 bucks for a shirt.
5- She started to say hi to someone else and then it would just be awkward.
For all the missed hello's, HI!!!!

This huge kind skill your proper eye can study some thing from 20 feet away that folk with "generic" creative and prescient ought to study at one hundred and fifty feet away. Or one hundred feet remote from the left eye. In different words, you're very nearsighted, and it really is worse on your proper eye.

I always say hi but I know a lot of people are just plain rude ! Try to ignore them.
One day I held the door open for this lady who had her arms full of packages. Instead of saying thank you she just walked on by. In a loud voice I said YOU ARE WELCOME. She looked at me like I was crazy but I got a good laugh out of it !
