Most DVD players can be 'hacked' to play DVDs form any region. This usually involves putting in a code via the remote, often supplied by the manufacturer, to change the player to Region Free.

However, the cheap 'n' nasty things from Argos and your local supermarket are usually 'region locked' and cannot be made Region Free by any method (this is why they are cheap...).

Having said all that, you would be very unlucky to buy a Region 2-only DVD player these days - most are Region Free, straight from the box.

Some DVD players have a switch on the back that will allow you to view different region DVDs but if it doesn't you can use a DVD shrink program to burn the DVD and that should work. That is if you have a DVD player that recognizes mp3 format or rewritable discs.
Hope this helps

I bought the cheapest DVD player there was at the local Asda/Walmart and it will play ANYTHING! I have heard tell that more expensive players won't play copies etc.

Its not so much the player its the DVD. For example if you are in the UK and you buy a DVD in USA it wont work because of different TV formats. USA = NTSC UK = PAL!!!

It could be possible but the picture wont be as good as buying a DVD in your neck of the woods, hope this helps.

Of course I could be wrong!!!!!! I think I'm right!!!!!

Its very easy - simply typing in a code on your remote. The code depends upon your machine. Try this site enter your machine details and it will give you step by step instructions....
