chemical reaction when plastic heats up

It could kill my child to eat off of melted Styrofoam plate. The first time she did she was treated in and emergency room for an allergic reaction that had her chocking and covered in huge hives. She ate scrambled eggs off a melted Styrofoam plate in the hospital cafeteria. We now carry an epi pen in case she comes in contact with any other sources. The plates are made of E.V.A. foam ( ethylene, vinyl, acetate) and it is used in many foam products. Look up these chemicals, you will find that they are listed as hazardous materials. My child is like the parakeet in the mine. No one wants to do any thing about it because these foam products are so widely used for food products and other products people use every day and ever place you go. It is not good. Even the swim mats at our local pool are made of the foam and she gets like a skin burn from those with just a few minutes of contact. She is not allergic to latex we had her tested.

Really hot food can release chemicals in the plastic that could affect the food.

It's along the same lines as not putting alcohol in styrofoam.

Styrofoam and other plastics can release cyanide gas if heated enough as well as cancer causing agents. Whats the most common cup used for hot drinks? Styrofoam. Burning mattresses in house fires create a lot of cyanide gas.

When you microwave plastic or put exceptionally hot food on it, the molecular structure of the plastic is compromised. It's degeneration effects the food that is touching it, possibly transferring harmful chemicals into your body.

The reason is because of a chemical called dioxin. It will mix with your food, and it is a known cancer causer, especially for women, because it causes breast cancer. It is not good to freeze your water bottles either, and then drink from them. The extreme heat or cold causes the chemical to be released, and lodge in your cells. Dioxin, look it up, or run a search.

Because when it melts it looks like Mozzarella. You eat it and then it solidifies in your colon. When you go for a colonoscopy the little camera gets stuck. Colon-cam jam-up could cause injury.
