It's kind of like the bumblebee that could not fly because it's body and wings went against all known laws of aerodynamics. All KNOWN laws. We all know that bumblebees can and do fly. Scientist now understand how. Just because something can not at present be explained scientifically, does not mean that there is not a valid scientific explanation for it. According to what is known At PRESENT, a person may seem dead and medical professionals may pronounce him so. If the person then revives, of course we all know that he was not dead. Any explanation for their revival at this point would only be speculation.
As to that persons experiences while in this state, they usually follow along the lines of the persons beliefs, life experiences and what he has been taught whether or not he believed them before. The experience can seem so real as to change a persons whole view of life or his beliefs.
The human brain is extremely complex.(see Psalm 139:14) If a brain surgeon were to place a blunt probe on specific areas of your brain, you would literally see or hear or taste. Who is to say what deeper areas of the brain are being affected while one is struggling to hold onto life.

I'd imagine that it's really your brain. When some1 dies, the cells take time 2 completely shut down. That's why there exists terms such as "brain-dead/death" and "cell-dead/death". If some1 has the privilege of being revived after brain death or their heart stops temporarily, they may come back reporting some sort of out-of-body experience due to the fact that their brain had in effect disconnected.
