I do think it is very offensive, my Jesus who was slain for my sin to be so disrespected. He suffered for our sin there is no humor in this. How sad that someone would use his image in this way.Im sure he forgives, but it grieves me.

When I first started reading I was horrified that someone would make a nude Jesus sculpture until I saw that it was intended to be a depiction of him on the cross minus the cross. What bugs me is if the artist was going to be "historically accurate" and "anatomically correct" we wouldn't be able to recognize the sculpture as human, as is prophesied in Isaiah 52:14. As for all those handsome pictures of the bearded Jesus, Isaiah 53:2 says "He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him" The Jews gave 39 blows. 40 minus 1 being merciful. Romans who historically hated Jews went until just before death. The stripes the Bible talked about were literally strips of flesh hanging off his backs and legs. He was beaten in the head by the Romans guards with a stick. His own mother probably didn't even recognize him. Hows that for historically accurate and anatomically correct. My family doesn't use eggs or bunnies in our celebration of Easter and I think very few people realize the extent of what Jesus went through. We have been so desensitized to violence yet we still don't understand the extent of what Jesus suffered. We have all been fooled by the pretty pictures and watered down plays that go on at Easter that it just doesn't sink in. No I am not offended by one more artists inaccurate depiction of Jesus.

Given a little thought, the sculpture of a naked, "crucified" (the cross was not included in the sculpture) Jesus is CORRECT HISTORICALLY.
The Romans did not give Jesus any dignity when He was crucified. They took ALL of His clothing, not just the outer garment! Usually, when the crufixion is shown in artwork, a slip of cloth or even a loincloth is inserted into the picture, but this is for sensitivity's sake. It is not historically accurate.
Instead of cancelling the show, couldn't the artist simply allow a slip of cloth to be placed over the genital area of his sculpture of Jesus?
The sculpture being made of chocolate, could be taken as a metaphor. Jesus' sacrifice, made by a dark man no less (dark chocolate...) was a sweet act of love.
Isn't chocolate assosiated with love?
Handled properly, the statue could be displayed. I wouldn't have a problem with it.

You know what really bugs me about that?
It bugs me because I am sick and tired of so-called "christians" who celebrate "easter". I am a Christian, and as a Christian, I follow the example of Jesus Christ, the first Christian. Who is Christian if not for Christ himself? Christ became our Passover, not our "easter". easter was a mistranslation one time in the Book of Acts; if you trace the word back into the manuscripts, you will find that it is "passo", or Passover. Yet, on the highest, most sacred day of Christianity, there they are, rolling eggs on the church lawn. Its an insult to the blood shed on the Cross, and insult to Christ himself. It literally sickens me.
As for this chocolate Jesus, the thing that bothers me is that normally on easter they have chocolate bunnies. Its not enough to insult Christ with the easter fertily rite of coloring eggs, but they have to add insult to injury by adding "quick like the bunny" to it.
This is one of the most anti-Christian things ever, and now they aren't satisfield with the chocolate bunnies, hey lets make a big chocolate Christ, too. Its pathetic, truly.
A Christian will follow the example of Christ, who celebrated the Passover. For those who say He did that because he was a "jew", I submit that He was a jew by bloodline, not by religion; He was the very first Christian. Does your church celebrate "ishtar" and that pagan fertility rite? Then you got a problem in your church. Think its no big deal? I wonder if Christ thinks its "no big deal". They stick bonnets on children and parade them around with baskets of eggs, instead of teaching them even one thing about those Scriptures that Christ stated should be passed down the generations. Most of todays youth are so Biblical illiterate, its amazing if you can even carry on an intelligent conversation with them, Biblically speaking. They don't know whats really written. Why the ignorance? Because they are outside rolling easter eggs.
The downfall of man will be his lack of knowledge.

I say if people take themselves and their religion *that* seriously that they complain or are offended by something like this - they need to pull the stick out. A chocolate Jesus sculpture sounds delicious. I know I'm not Christian, but I just had to comment.

It's a bit offensive but mostly stupid. Such trash is best ignored. Reminds me of another trashy work of so-called art called piss christ. I don't believe in censorship, I just think people can't distinguish between trash and art are a bit retarded.
