Wow, I'm coming across some good questions today. For the most part, ABSOLUTELY! You put on this happy face, wear your best clothes and sexy underwear, do your hair and makeup - you fake yourself up to the best of your ability. Once the chase is over, off comes all the glam and extensions, the real you is exposed and it's all downhill from there. Why do you think there's such a high divorce rate? People spend tens of thousand of dollars to fulfil their need to be the centre of attention - they diet and exercise and buy an expensive dress. But once the honeymoon is over, the diet and exercise stops, the sweatpants come out, the hair is messy, the kitchen doesn't get cleaned and the meals don't get prepared. It's all an act!!

You sound like my Pastor http://www.oneplace.com/ministries/enduring_truth
He is always telling single people that the person whom they are dating isn't the person whom they are going to be married to because a person puts on their best behavior for a date. He talks about getting Jack or Jackie to pop out of the box. He says to check them out when they are driving in traffic or when they get in an argument because then you will see "Jack" pop out of the box and that's the real person you are considering spending the rest of your life with.

Well, the majority of the time it would seem so, which is why people make such a big deal when they find some1 that they can "be themselves" around.
But, really, how does that question fit in Religion and Spirituality???

Stupid isn't it?
When they find out who you really are, they run like the wind.
Why not act like yourself all the time?
I would rather spend my time and energy being myself and enjoying myself than trying to cover over who I really am and be miserable doing so.
If you are going to like me, then like me, if not then go find someone you like more and I will be just as happy with you as I am without you.

Nope, I've been me on every date I've been on. No point in acting like something I am not, I enjoy me, so other people should too, and if they don't at least I know it early.

If you are serious about someone you should start letting them see your real self. My mother told me that before I married my husband, to make him really mad to see how he'll act or react. That was good advice too.

many times it is so or at least you hide certain aspects of yourself that you think may not be appealing for the other person.

No, try to be the persons true friend if you are serious about them, that means being yourself.

That is many people's strategy. Hopefully you won't date people you don't feel comfortable with right away though.
