Truthfully, even as a child, praying made me feel like a hypocrite and extremely self-conscious. The experience was quite unpleasant because I felt like a horrible fool for talking to an imaginary deity. After I was nine and knew I was an atheist I never tried it again. Just typing this answer and thinking about it gives me the creeps. As an adult, if I find myself trapped in some kind of group prayer, I always just bow my head and keep my mouth shut. The very idea of prayer makes my skin crawl.

yes, aren't you supposed to confess sins and express gratitude when you pray? Praying is not mean to be a request session. You can ask for people to be healed and things like that but not for anything shallow or materialistic.

Be humble!! That is the most important thing to do. Always let God know that you understand that He is in total control and you don't have the same knowledge or ability that He does.

I do, but I don't do it.
Unlike some people who pray to win for the football game.
Idiots.
