If we recive the word, and store His commands inside us, if we pay attention to wisdom, and call for insight, if we call out for discernment, and seek it with all we have in us; then we will understand the fear of God, and find knowledge of God. To love Him, is to obey Him; to hate evil, is to love God. To obey Him,and not our own flesh, is respecting God, loving God, and fearing God. So, I cant understand God, until I have knowledge of Him, and I cant have knowledge of Him, until I understand the fear of Him, and I understand the fear of Him, by recieving His words and obeying them, calling out to Him and searching for insight and discernment, and inclining my mind toward understanding. Fearing God is turning from evil. Loving God is hating evil. I cant love God, until I fear God. We must trust in Him, with ALL our heart; and not depend on our own understanding. We are not to be afraid of anything, if we rely on God, He will keep us safe. He is a sheild to those whose conduct is blameless. So, to respect God, we must first understand the fear of Him. That leads us to love Him.

Ps..Jesus is the WAY, the TRUTH and the LIFE..He is the WAY people! Love ya!

Fear but not fear of His anger or wrath it is a kind of fear that a child feels when the mother suddenly disappear from his sight. God should not be feared from His anger because it is slow to come and easily forgiving for the one who seriously ask forgiveness and live to a life that is righteous in His eyes.
If you will hear or read His anger written as wrath over Israel or mankind maybe you should think that People must have really done something beyond just human error.

I would say both. I love God as my Father, but I fear Him just for the fact of who He is and how powerful He is. I mean this is the one who created things like oceans and mountains and I am talking to Him over my coffee in the morning. It is awesome!

Love is what God gives to us, so I respect Him out of Love. Love is more powerful than fear.

A healthy relationship with God, is built on fear and love.

We have fear of Him, because He has told all of us; what the rules are and that there will be consequences for breaking those rules.

We also love Him, because He sent His Son to die for us to freely be given eternal salvation. There is nothing that we can do, to earn salvation. We will never be good enough to enter into His presence without first accepting that we are sinners and Christ Jesus was sacrificed for us to be forgiven.

Any relationship with any father, has to have a balance of fear and love. Not abuse, but true love and enough consideration, for that child; that the parent will discipline him or her when they misbehave.

How many parents do you know, who have a 'mutually respectful' relationship with kids; in a home without rules and consequences for breaking those rules?

When most Christians accept Christ it is out of fear. As the relationship grows, all fear is gone and love grows.

Both!

God has shown me the inner division within myself, that has led me to see why I both Fear -AND- Love Him! Thus I respect God for both!
