The advised maximum daily dose of Ibuprofen is 1,200 mg. If your tablet is 200 mg then you took the maximum, if your tablet is 400 mg then you doubled the maximum. However whether your tablet is 200 mg or 400 mg, nothing too dangerous could happen. You may probably experience some abdominal discomfort, headache, dizziness and other non-threatening symptoms. Toxic effects are unlikely at doses below 100 mg/kg but can be severe above 400 mg/kg; so figure it out according to your weight. Bear in mind however that this drug could possibly affect your heart, gastrointestinal tract and liver so you need to be careful next time and consider the bad effects it could probably give.

I used to have to take 4 for my excruciating pain and nothing happened. But I only did this twice per month.

There is a side effect to taking too many of these tablets which is kidney disease. My neighbor died from doing this.

If you have more pain that ibuprofen was designed to handle, it might be a good idea to get a recommendation from your doctor or pharmacist as to an alternate medication.

And you want to do this why? And the other question as well, Why? Perhaps you ought to see a physician to find out why you are crying for some psychological help.... good luck, hon

(PS. And Tylenol causes liver problems, not kidney, and the max daily recommendation of Ibuprofen is 2400, not 1200)

Nothing particularly good. NSAID's like ibuprofen have a plateau effect, so more isn't better for relief of pain or fever, but it does increase your risk of gastrointestinal complications, decreased renal function, and all the unpleasant things these drugs are known for.

what is the mg strength of the ibuprofen?
200mg, 400mg or 800mg?
How old are you...dosages make a difference depending on your age...
assuming you are 20, the daily dose recommended is 2400mg (800mg three times daily with food)
so, if you took 1200mg, you may end up with an upset stomach...
if you took 2400mg, you may end up with a small bleeding ulceration
if you took 4800mg, you may end up with an acute ulcer...
so, need more info to give you a better answer...thanks
good luck

When you go to the E.R., they give you up to 800 mg of ibuprophen for swelling, fever, ect. When you are at home and you have advil or the generic ibuprophen the E.R. would tell you that you can take up to 4 of those @ one time and it equal's out to 800 mg. I'm not too sure about 6 because that's 1000mg's.

It depends on if they are 25mg's or 50mg's. If they are 25mgs it's ok. One thing to go by is prescription ibuprofen is 800mg's every 6 hours, so your probably ok.

PS. TYLENOL IS THE ONE THAT CAUSES KIDNEY PROBLEMS TAKEN IN HIGH DOSEAGES

Not enough to kill you. Take two to three to relieve discomfort etc, but after that, the pills just dont do anything at all.
