Proberbs 27:14 Says as iron sharpens iron so one man sharpens another. I never liked sharpeners until recently. Sharpeners are people that tell the truth even if it hurts and the point things out where one needs to improve, sharpeners seem well sharp abrupt always pushing you to do more even when you don't like to be pushed or feel you cant go another step They also put the finger where it hurts as well. Have you ever had a "sharpnener in your life" that helped you become a better person in your journey with the Lord? How has that person helped you to do better and become more? I realize not everyone can be mercy people and encouragers and that it takes different gifts in the Body of Christ to help and minister to different people.

Guess some people resent being sharpened, based on your first coupla responses.

This is like the thing I read about the Refiner. Have you seen that? A refiner has to hold the gold (or silver) in the fire till the impurities are burned away, and he stands right there and watches because if he left it there too long, it would be destroyed. And he knows it's refined and pure when he can see himself in it. Kinda beautiful! It's like God because even though He allows us to go through trials and stuff, He never allows them to destroy us, and when we're pure everyone can see His image in us.

I can think of lots of instances where people have been used to sharpen me. Even those times when people have been offensive to me, I have tried to learn some truth from something of which they have spoken. It's about being humble enough to take it! If I know someone well and know that they want good for me, even though it is hard for them to say some thing, It might hurt a bit initially, but I almost know immediatly if it is on track or not, because I will be convicted, then I am grateful for it, because I know it will change me.

I'm gonna try to be a sharpener for a little while...God exists only in men's minds. The world is way older than 6000 years, and evolution has been proven.

Honestly I'd like all the sharpeners to be 'pushed' off a bridge.

Every woman I have ever dated long term have walked away from organized religion. Once you understand the difference between indoctrinated thought and free thinking you will never want to be put in bondage again.

The point is you can't sell religion to a mind capable of understanding the human dynamic. All thoughts are creative and man is selling his future short through the belief in a God that requires you to love him first and fore most. This act is a lie designed to enslave man while taking away his ability to know his true self. God is an inanimate object born out of the qualities of imagination that will serve to lessen man in his own eyes.

Man is the creative force in this world. So much so he created God and used it to enslave the minds of his fellow man. Look around the world and you will notice the most religious live in poverty of the mind body and spirit. Religion only appeal to the less educated and poverty stricken which creates a bigger financial disparity and spiritual hollowing out.

Look at the Black culture. There only leaders are religious based. The Black culture only listens to Christians is why they can't figure out their internal issues. Prays the lord is what you hear most in those communities. If you turn all those churches into learning institution and give the Black culture access to real education they may out do us all.

My Pastor is a sharpener. He is also my next door neighbor. He will boldly tell me my weak points. He won't hesitate to tell me I'm not ready for the next level when I move too fast in my spiritual journey. I have learned a lot and have much respect for this not perfect but Godly man.

Yes. God took me through a long wilderness experience that included a friend who did not spare me the truth. I think I am a much better person for it--certainly committed to knowing and serving the Lord.

I've had several sharpeners in my life. For the most part they were not Christians, just people who irritated the rough spots in my personality. What I have noticed is that the same kind of people keep coming into my life until that rough spot gets smooth.

If I knew someone like that I would make an effort to not associate with them.

What you call "sharpeners" I call arrogant judgmental pr1cks.

My pastor is amazing, he never preaches prosperity but feel free to preach the Word even it hurts (in worldly sense)
