The reason I am asking is because I study gender and gender norms from different perspectives. I was curious to read your answers while I also hoped to inspired critical reflection of this gendered practice.

I don't think, the purpose of going to church is,not to be seen
in public with unsightly legs.
So appropriate or inappropriate is not applicable.
God himself never struck me as a leg man, and the Bible doesn't state that there is no entering heaven without razor or
wax handy.
I can at least see the point that one wants to look his Sunday's best when going to church, but to judge a women's
religious sincerity by the non-hairiness of her legs seems to
be even more inappropriate.
I wonder how many men go to church with dirty underwear
or socks with holes in them. (and remain undetected ).

Leg shaving became wide-spread in the 20th century.
The Bible says nothing about a woman shaving or not shaving her body, just that she should be going to church dressed up trying to get attention or catch people's eyes. A church service isn't about you but about God.

Pfft. I wore jeans to church when I went years ago. No one knew if my legs were shaven or not.

For some (not all) churches to be so caught up in being pure and believing in god they seem to put what you wear as top priority..

I sincerely doubt that God cares whether or not one shaves one's legs. I, personally, would wear pants if I did not feel like shaving though.

I say yes. God created women with hair on their legs. It is our vanity that requires us to shave.
