If you're trying to connect a remote wire into the ignition harness, you can tap into the 12-gauge brown wire that breaks out of the harness and connects to the back of the fuse box to the left. This is the switched accessory wire that will have voltage with the key switch turned backwards, or in the "on" position. When the key is off, there's no voltage on the brown wire, so your amp will turn off as well. You MUST put a fuse on your new wire within a few inches of your connection point; a 1 amp fuse will be fine.

The red wires at the ignition harness are usually the constant voltage feed wires, so don't use them. You can also connect to the accessory wire behind your radio; it will probably be yellow.

AHHH!!!!!! Don't cut up your igntion ! Find the fuse for the radio, pull it out, wrap the wire for the remote around the blade put the fuse back in.Voila!!! You have an amp! All this is of course you don't have a remote wire coming off the back of your stereo? Also if you had the stereo out to wire the speakers into the amp you could wire the remote into the power wire for the stereo.Any wire that's hot only when the igntion is on will work
Hey,Why don't you wire it to the brake lights? THAT would be fun.

don't listen to spraymonkey unless you want to start a fire in your fuse block. the remote wire has absolutely nothing to do with your ignition system (actually, your accessory wire). a lot more information is required from you if you want proper advice, such as:

is this an amp or cd/tape player? make and model please.
do you have a motorized antenna (for radio, of course)?
and what do you currently have installed that is not original equipment, if anything?

please do not heed anybody who tries to answer without further information posted, you never know how they will interperet your specific needs and some people are foolish and dangerous. wrap around your fuse blades? good god, NO!!! email if you want to.

Try using one of these item. They will provide you with the proper voltage and amps to turn on your amp. The second one provides a line output converter with the remote trigger.

You could also use the brown wire off of the stock radio harness.
