Why would the Jews reject Christ? Isaiah the prophet predicted his coming in the old testament books, as well as many other old testament references to the messiah.
Jesus fit the bill for everything said about the coming messiah, God's son. What were the jews upset about, and why reject the very truth of God fro their own Gospels? I beleive a few select jewish leaders at that time, felt very proud of there position and thought Jesus was trying to turn the peoples attention away from them, to him. But these leaders made a horrible influence on their own peoples ability to see truth in the word God gave them. that he would send his son, a desc of David he would be of Nazareth and be the ultimate sacrafice. Why would the Jews forgo their own scriptural teachings, and trust their own opinion of who Jesus was over God's? why would they still be waiting for the messiah, when th eonly one predicted to come is the anti-christ? the next messiah they'll prob be believing in is only satan.

You must understand that before Jesus came, one could not even ask God for forgiveness. You had to go to the temple with a sacrificial lamb, and allow the priests and scribes to make the sacrifice for you, and pray to God for you for forgiveness. This power was like any other power given unto men. It perverted the office of the religious leaders of the day. The pharisees and saducees began to see themselves as above everyone else, and the only authority on God. Jesus Himself accused them of sealing the house of God up. Told them that they did not allow others to enter therein, and did not enter in themselves.
With their high opinion of themselves, you can imagine that they could not stand to hear these truths, and therefore rejected, condemned, and killed Him.

Well, no, Jesus didn't "fit the bill for everything said about the coming messiah".

Jesus did not fulfill the "job requirements" for the Messiah, according to Jewish prophecy.

For Jesus to have been the prophesied "Messiah", he would have had to have been a human leader, an *earthly* king, who would restore the Jewish monarchy, drive out the Romans, set up an independent Jewish state, and inaugurate an era of peace, justice and prosperity (known as "the kingdom of God') for the whole world.

Didn't exactly happen, did it?

Not all Jews have rejected Christ. St. Paul was a Jewish Pharisee who persecuted early Christians and came face to face with God on his way to Damascus. From then on, he passionately proclaimed the Gospel to all nations (living a Christian life). There are many others like Paul, but we just have not heard about them. God has a master plan for the Jews. Read Romans 11 and you will see that the Jews will come to believe that Jesus is the Messiah in due time. Not all of them were meant to believe, but God has saved a remnant of believers for himself.

they do not think he was the messiah, at the time the jews were awaiting a messiah, some felt that this messiah, the promised person would be a great military leader who would deliver them from all their enemies, others had different views about whom or what role the messiah would fulfill. most jews also only use the first five books of the old testament, also known as the pentateuch and therefore they do not see some scripture that we have as inspired by god.

My belief is they were so caught-up in obeying the "written law" and so confused as how Jesus could claim to be the Son of God, they just kept getting further and further away from knowing who He really was and is.
I have asked this question before and some answered telling me they do not believe He fulfilled any of the prophecy they were waiting for.
I believe that at the time of the Second Coming and during the millenium there will be many Jews (and of course others) who will come to know Jesus is the Christ. That is my own belief. I have been reading "Jesus The Christ" by James E. Talmage and it is a WONDERFUL book and gives a lot of detail as to the "separating away" of the Jews. It's a book I suggest anyone read, not just Mormons.

Not all Jews rejected Jesus.
The 12 apostles were Jewish.
All the authors of the New Testament except Luke (Gospel of Luke and Acts) were Jewish.
Most of the early church was Jewish.
The active rejection of Jesus by the Pharisees and Sadducees represented a very small portion of the Jewish population.
Though, the children of Israel had a long history of rejecting prophets from God. Elijah had to hide in the wilderness, Elisha was harassed by a group of young men who were telling him to go away and die, even fresh out of slavery they rejected God's guidance and were forced to wander for 40 years in the wilderness.
But, nevertheless, most of the early church was Jewish, and the book of Hebrews was written to Jewish Christians and Jews seeking truth about Jesus.

The Jews practice their religion. They only believe in the OLD Testament.

Us Christians believe in the New Testament. The Jews say that Jesus is a man just like you and I and is not the son of GOD!

Why doesn't modern-day Christianity proclaim Christ's present enthronement and coming war of Armageddon? Why do they have people believing that they'll live in heaven as opposed to the Paradise Earth promised in the Scriptures? Why do they present God as a three person entity (also unscriptural btw) and explain it away by saying that we aren't s'posed 2 be able 2 understand it? And why don't most denominations encourage regular personal Bible reading so that individuals can be aware of what God's Word says?

Oh wait, I believe I digress . . .

Basically, somehow man-made tradition crept in and made things to where a seperate clergy class came to be the sole interpreters of God's Word, and the laity followed their every word blindly. If they would have paid attention to the signs, they would have recognized Jesus as the Messiah (as some Jews did), but alas, a vast majority chose to reject him and suffer the consequences of losing God's favor and the status as His chosen nation.

Well, I'm guessing that they had a reason to believe that he was not who he said he was. I don't think Jesus was the messiah either. Don't get me wrong, I do believe that he existed, but I believe that he was a glorified philosopher. I have my reasons, and they have theirs. And you have yours. We all have different opinions, so why do we all worry about each others points of view when we're not open minded enough to respect their side of it anyway? Ah ha, that should be the question to ask. Ciao!!!

Most people today claim to believe in God but they do not live by his rules and regulations.
It has been this way for thousands of years, regardless of what god people worshiped.
Most people are very content with how their lives are going and take no time to notice of him until they have a problem and then they look to God to place the blame for their troubles.
