On this site, that is typically done with the non-response of a thumbs down.

Just one example:

No one will give you the ISBN number of the book Henry wrote where he said this, they just sulk and give you a thumbs down.

who gave the thumbs down? well, look at the question, and the neutrality of the answer. couple that with the logical deduction of where the camps would stack up on this topic ... who has something to gain and who doesn't?

when people revise history for their agenda their revision is a lot less likely to withstand scrutiny and to obtain a consensus

even if a historical figure said something highly controversial, if the person actually said it the probability is lower that it will be in dispute by any group of scholars Historical record is intimately tied to probability and statistics.

Incidentally Jefferson wrote a book where he compiled from the Bible what he thought had merit and discarded the superstitious parts. You can purchase this book on Amazon. Why then would anyone logically believe Jefferson was a fundie?

I would be happy to address a fact in as polite a manner as possible. In fact, after some of what I have seen, a politely stated matter of fact would be refreshing. Incidentally, how do you know it was a Christian that gave you a thumbs down?

He really said that. I only have an e-mail of the sayings of founding fathers. But I can try to find out, I do not have the book. But he really said that. : )

PS: Do not worry about those thumb downs, there are always going to be people who will disagree with you. I have never been trying to fit in, I am not afraid to stand out. I seem to rub people wrong way quite often even when I do not mean to. Opinions are like noses, we all have one. I have actually pressed thumb down couple of times by mistake when I have been playing with my mouse pad...and one cannot correct it when it is done. : )

To be fair, both sides do it. I try to present facts instead of just opinions and supposition to support my chosen religion, and those who disagree with me, rather than debate me, simply thumbs-down my answers.

I know SOME Christians do what you described. But not all. When people of other faiths present me with what they believe are facts, I look into it before I consider giving them a thumbs-down. If they're right, I give them a thumbs-up.

I am a christian. if I do not address the facts it is because I am uninformed about them. I have never given you a thumbs-down.

Interesting.

Let them boast. Smile when you see the thumb, you know you made an impact.

They should respond to their positive Christian questions.

I'm a Christian and I thought your response was great. I checked the Wickipedia link, and, sure enough, that's a pretty disputed quote.

Score one for the Aztec diety.

Not all Christians are the same! Please keep that in mind :0)

Because they have been raised to dismiss facts and accept myths. This category is rife with it.

Psychological reaction to something that challenged their sense of self and their pov, kinda like calling someone in kindergarten a "poopiehead" when you can't think up a logical response.
