I had a composite bonding done, and it was pretty close to the nerve. I feel excruciating pain when it comes into contact with heat or cold. Dentist says that it does not require a root canal, the pain is sometimes present. What could it be? and how do i make it not hurt? because i cant eat nor drink wnything!

IF it was close to the pulp then its probably very irritated. Give it some time (several weeks). Since the dentist said it probably doesn't need a root canal, just let it rest awhile. Teeth don't like being worked on, they put up a crying fit! Get yourself some sensodyne toothpaste. I had white fillings that were sensitive to cold for months! The fact that HOT liquids bother you is more troublesome, but try and give it some time.

Pls get in touch with your dentist tomorrow using the after hours line if you can't get thru to them now if they don't have late hours.

If that doesn't work try a walk in clinic to have this looked at so that you can have some info to give to the dentist when you are able to get in to them next week.
