Try moving from America to Europe. It took me 4 weeks just to figure out the British pronounciation of aluminium. I had no clue what they were saying. Maybe it was the same for them regarding me!
I also had no clue what nappies, prams, prawns, chips, crisps, blokes, etc. were.
I felt embarrassed that I was not as worldly as they were in vocabulary.

There are some that you (Americans) use that we (Canadians) don't generally use in our speech as well.
You say 'soda' we say 'pop'
You say 'candy bar' we say 'chocolate bar'
You say 'vacation' we say 'holiday' (though this has been interchangeable more and more in Canada the past few years)
You say 'sneakers' we say 'runners'
You say '12th grade', we say 'grade 12'
I know everyone says Canadians say "eh" a lot too and I will readily admit to that one. I love all the little differences between cultures it keeps things exciting and lets everyone have their own distinction. Cheers eh!

F*** is known as bloody in Britian, or so I've heard.
Fags are buggers and bummers there too, or so I've heard.

I'm sure they think it's strange we use f*g to mean gay since they use it to mean cigarette.
