You made two minor errors:
John 4:16 Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.

1John 4:16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

Context, context, context...you left out the context.
See the verses before:
1John 4:14-15 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world. Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.

You have to read the entire sermon and not just some verses in order to get what is really being said, but adding just verses 14 and 15 which go along with verse 16 is enough to clear up a lot of questions I should think.

You must read the verse before the one you stated. Like 1 John 4:14 15. You really need to read all the scripture and not pick out one verse. You have a relationship with God the Father, through His Son Jesus Christ. Without Christ you can not go before God the Father, as a sinner. He is the judge and can not be in the presence of sin. Jesus is the one who takes our sin away so that we can stand before God spotless and blameless. "And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world. Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwells in him and he in God. " So you do have a relationship with the Father, but through the Son of God, Jesus.

Reading verse in context really helps like verse 13-24 also Hebrews 13:8 says Jesus IS God, and yes we must have a saving relationship with Jesus to go to Heaven John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

That's I John 4:16. Written by the same John as (The Gospel of)John 14:6 Jesus said, "I AM the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father but by Me."

wow, lets just throw little verses around without context or acknowledgement of the rest of the story. You treasure this verse because it is satient to your agenda, but other than that, why is it better than John 3:16. I guess you are God and get to decide which scriptures mean something and which don't. That is how we get crusades and inquisitions. Through liberal interpretation based upon personal agenda. A fundamentalist makes himself conform to the scripture instead of the other way around and hence adheres to the both the letter and spirit of the entire law.

Read John 1 to find out the relation between that verse and Jesus.

Jesus saves us. But it is our love for one another that reveals who we are, it shows we are Christs followers. John 13:35 - Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples
Jesus' commandment is to love one another, this is obedience, not salvation. Salvation is through believing Jesus is the Son of God who is the Savior who died for you and was raised by the power of God and is our one mediator between us and God so that we may obtain mercy.
Jesus said to abide in Him because without Him we can do nothing. ( John 15:5) So we must love God through Jesus Christ. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.

why did you skip right over 4:15 . what does 4:15 say. Slow down and think when you read. It says you must first confess that Jesus is the son of god. and if you believe that then it behooves you to believe the reason why god sent his son. I dearly hope this is not a case of selective reading.

This is more of a clause that allows for those not exposed to the word of God to be saved. So for those who are pagan, but still live a proper life they still receive the reward for a just life. This also applies to all the Old Testament and pre-crucifixion people of the bible

John 4:16
He told her, "Go, call your husband and come back"

If you mean 1 John 4:16, look at the passage in context, it definitely mentions Jesus:

15If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in him and he in God. 16And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him.
