If you are single and can't be claimed as a dependent by anyone else, as long as your income was under $8450, you don't have to file. Note that if you had self-employment income of $400 or more, you'd have to file.

You only have to file tax forms if you had income. There is no state tax in Florida but you do need to file a return with the internal revenue service to report and pay taxes on income you earned through your work or from your investments. I suggest that you check out the IRS website for instructions and forms

File at least a form 1040EZT if you paid for long distance service in the proper years. It is worth a $30 credit to a single taxpayer, no dependents. If you file any other form (1040EZ, 1040A, or 1040), you can claim the credit there.

You don't mention what income you have from sources other than working.

Just got to http://www.IRS.gov and file a 1040-EZ. Even if you didn't accrue income you still may need to file. You won't owe anything cause you didn't make over $5100 (ish). Also you obviously can't expect a refund because you didn't pay anything. Better safe than sorry!

No income, no filing.

good luck & happy writing!

Keep track of all expenses regarding the writing and publishing of a book. If you hope to gain income eventually, you need to show basis..

If you had any type of income during the last year, then you have to file taxes.
