he doesnt want nothing sexual from me, just love and same with me. my parents hit the roof and now hate me. i told them to meet him but they say what we are doing is illegal. is it.? we have no intention for having sex. i just dont know what to do.

For the people saying it is illegal, don't know the law, and or are too young to know it.
If a 50 year old and a 12 year old were just dating, no sex involved, that is not illegal. Creepy, but not illegal. Same in your case.
Doesn't matter what age, if you're not having sex, there is nothing illegal going on.

It is not illegal. He is not yet 18 and even if he was the law states that a four year age difference needs to be present in order for it to be statitory rape...at least in new mexico it is. But he's not 18 yet...it's not illegal until then. They need to learn its only a three year age difference and there is nothing morally wrong with that. Trust me if you were 20 and he was 23 they would not have a problem with it..take a look at your parents...trust me one of them is at least two years older than the other....

At 14 and 17, you are both minors - so no it is not illegal. Once he turns 18, he is an adult and you will still be a minor - that in some states is illegal to the point he could go to jail.

No, it's not illegal. Only sexual intercourse has the possibility of being illegal. You can be friends with anyone at any age and it's totally legal.
Your parents are probably assuming you are having sex and that's why they said it was illegal.
Forget everyone else except you and him. Be friends with him just like you are. It's nobody else's business unless there's abuse or intercourse (and my own opinion is that even intercourse ain't anyone else's business if it consenting).
If u have issues with your parents, then avoid discussin it and play down any comments they might make. I think once your parents know there ain't no sex involved, they'll calm down.

Dating at 14 and 17 is not illegal. Sex at 14 and 17 is not illegal. Sex at 18 and 14 is. I'm curious. If you think it is illegal, what law do you think you're breaking?

If you are just friends it's ok.
If it's anything else...........yes it's illegal amd you could have a lot of problems.
I don't think your parents hate you.They're just looking out for your best interests.You don't need a boyfriend at 14 yrs. old.
You have all the time in the world for that later but you can have lots of friends.
Listen to your parents.You'll never regret it.They really do know what's best for you.

NO IT'S NOT!!! my husband is a cop! it's not illegal, your parents are afraid that you are growing up to soon so they are telling you that so you will break up with him... go to them and say this "funny thing... i just checked on the phone to the police station and they say it's NOT illegal... funny" if you were 14 and he was 78 it wouldnt matter as long as you dont get married while you are under 16... you may not believe me but go to google and type in, laws on marriage, i know your not getting married but it will tell you the laws, on there it says it is not illegal! show your parents that and see what they say! hope it helps

No it isnt illegal because you guys arent planning on havent sex.
But if u do..yes its illegal and he can get arrested for straugtroy rape.
But i agree..you are way too young to even think about havent a boyfriend, its isnt even all that important.
Get an education first before its too late.
Im really worried about u teenagers now these days..really i am.

well ive had this problem. for 2 months my b.f is "3" years older than me. we started dating when i was 14 and if youre not having sex, its not illegal. just try to talk to ur parents about it. do research and reassure them of ur intentions. and if they are still really against it, then u should be just friends. and remember, theyre just trying to protect u cuz they love u.

Nope, it's not illegal as far as I can see.
The problem is that you're very likely to change your mind and get into a situation you can't handle. I doubt that your parents hate you, I bet they're scared spitless for you.
I am very happy that I didn't have a daughter. I'd be chatting with that young man while cleaning my gun collection.
