The real problem is that it can not be justified. We as individual citizens may be able to secretly justify the use of nuclear weapons and the death toll associated with it because of the personal nature of our losses, but there must be reasonable justification for using a weapon that destructive. Though it is a safe bet that should the terrorists ever acquire this technology it would most assuredly be used, we can’t allow ourselves to fall victim to their ideologies. Since the extremist ideology represents a relatively small percentage of the total Muslim population, it would just be wrong and completely unjustifiable to wipe out 25% of the population just to eliminate the 1% that are extremists. ( these are just made up #’s, don’t know the real ratio ) As far as our use of nuclear weapons against Japan in WWII, at the time it was considered justifiable mostly due to our ignorance of what the weapon was capable of. I would like to believe that our government would not have used the weapon if they had truly understood its capabilities, but those were some very hard conditions in which we lost around 400,000 troops. It does scare me however and I am not belittling our losses one bit, but in the current conflict which many see as being just as significant as WWII in regards to what is at stake, we are willing to go back to a state of isolation after 3000 casualties. And before you draw conclusions, I do have family members in Iraq and have a personal stake in our being there.

Due to a radioactive environment after the bombs being dropped, they wouldn't be able to get on the ground and actually move or build much needed equipment required for drilling oil/gas wells and their extraction of the very valuable oil/gas in Iraq or Iran, which is the most obvious reason the US is in Iraq and now trying to destabilize Iran.

Palestine is basically inside Israel and would kill off the Jews that are running the US today anyway. The US would actually be doing itself a service if they bombed Israel to get rid of those pesky Palestinians.

You must really have your head in the sand if you're wondering how to reduce the casualties America sustain while they go to occupy another country illegally, masquerading the threat of WMD's and an "evil dictator" when it was all about the oil in the first place. Better get your head checked, because the "evil dictator' and WMD's might be closer than you think. Just look around.

BECAUSE of Hiroshima. Until the US dropped the 2 on Hiroshima, no one really had any idea of the extent of the destruction and the lingering radioactivity. Since then cooler heads have prevailed and no one really wants to repeat Hiroshima. However, people should not mistake this attitude for a lack of will power or the ability to drop the bomb if the US is threatened with destruction or a hostile takeover.

Contrary to popular belief, the US does not want to see any country wiped out. Yes we can be bullies and self centered at times, but what country is not? We have managed to help keep most of the world's people free to choose their own way of life. Unfortunately in the process of keeping the peace, good soldiers die. We have paid a high price for freedom, but ask a US soldier and they will tell you they would do it all over again.

As much as I personally would like to nuke Iran and Syria it would probably cause more problems then it would solve.

Adam Smith is correct about the destructive capability of the weapons not being understood originally. It is now and we could use very small weapons designed to take out specific areas. Tehran for example. We would have to hit it worse than Hiroshima or Nagasaki since those cities are livable again.

The trouble is the nuts blame other people for their problems now, generally "the west". Imagine if they actually had something like a nuclear weapon to blame on some nation in particular.

That would really upset the psychos out there. They would never take responsibility for their lives and they would keep raising up little Islamic extremists to kill everyone they hate.

It wouldn't help, would probably make it worse, but, it would just feel good to stomp on some bug even if it was not the exact bug that is bothering you.

Waste of time, doing something to just make yourself feel good. Kind of like having sex and not caring if you got your partner off.

Back in 1945, when the bombs on Hiroshima were released, that was just a destruction test. Right now, the A-Bomb would cause a lot of controversy both here in the U.S and in the Middle East. The government already gets ratted on enough, give them a break.

Why are you bringing Palestine into this? Are you actually suggesting that Israel is the victim, here? Maybe you should learn what it feels like to have you and 800,000 of your countrymen driven from your land for the sake of some Zionist utopia that claims to represent Judaism even though it's done NOTHING for the Jews except capitalize on the Holocaust. **** Israel.

The death of innocent people is not in the character of the American people- or any moral people. The people living in those countries are not deserving of a nuclear attack. Instead, regime changes must be made. The people in those countries are not the enemies of the United States, rather those people in the government who wish to bring death and destruction to innocent people are - the terrorists.

Because China and Russia might have a bit of a problem with it. Not to mention the other countries that would be in the trail of the nuclear fallout.

Yeah, the world's problems are so easily solved, aren't they? My it's easy to come up with such solutions when you have no moral values and zero understanding of geopolitics.
