I hope I can explain this properly without getting into too much insignificant detail

I have an excel workbook.. a ledger... with three different areas
I want to keep the three areas seperate, so I am using the sheet tabs - one sheet for 'x', one sheet for 'y' and one sheet for 'z'

however there is one value from 'x' that I need to have in 'y' and 'z' - and, as it is updated in sheet 'x', I want it to be automatically updated in sheet 'y' and also 'z'
so... can you tell me how to transfer a dynamic value between 2 sheets in the same workbook.

The simplest way is to type in = in the y & z sheet, then select the appropriate tab and cell. It will carry it over. Hope I've interpretted your question correctly!

The 1st 2 answers are correct. If you go onto Sheet Y, type in = then click onto sheet x, select the cell that you want to be transfered over and press ENTER. Repeat the process for sheet Z. This actualy has a name, its called 3D Referencing, so if you require further help then you can google this, or ask again!!

Yes, if you copy the value from the first the sheet, go to the sheet you want it linked to and choose 'paste special' from the edit menu and then 'paste link'.

This put in a dynamic link to the first cell, in any worksheet. When the first cell changes, the others will too.

Find the cell in which you want to see that value from the other spreadsheet. Type = and, with the cursor still in the cell, click on the tab which has the data you want linked. Then, click on the cell containing the data you want to link. Hit ENTER. You are done.
