do you think this was fair 1 year ago i was a smart mouth and hit my sister who was 20 or 18 then and i yelled at her and when my mom got home i got the spanking of my life so bad then she made me sit in a uncomfy car do you think it was fair i got spanked for doing all that?

As a mother myself I can say that if any of my children hit another person, especially one in authority, that child will definately get severe discipline. Everyone has different methods of discipline, and I am not here to debate for or against spanking. But if spanking is the choice of discipline that your mother uses, I believe that it was fair. It is never okay to hit another person as you did your sister. (This isn't winning me any best-answer-brownie-points, is it!) Yelling, well, that punishment wouldn't have been appropriate for JUST the yelling part. But throw in the hitting, there you go, all-out-punishment is called for. That is my opinion, you asked and you got it.

There is a difference in spanking a child and being a bully. If the punishment exceeds the bad behavior then it wasn't a lesson learned but a message that the parent has low tolerance and that violence is the way they correct a situation. I have spanked my child just enough to show him that there are consequences in acting up but not for the reason that I'll not get angry. I would then explain to him that in life we all have consequences and that when he is older he will deal with different kinds of punishment. At a job, if you break the rules you get fired. Commit a crime you go to jail. Disrespect your wife she'll divorce you. He understood and accepted it when he got spanked because I didn't do it to the point that it was cruelty. Your mom needs to know that if she crosses the line then she is doing more harm than good and could cause some friction between you and your sisters relationship. Brothers and sisters are going to fight and argue. Some times it's best for the parent to act as a referee than an exicutioner.

Spanking should only be done as a last resort. Find out all the facts of why she did and talk to her and tell her how it made you feel. Being honest will show her she can start to treat you like an adult or trusting your word a little more. Don't yell, call names or make excuses.. Take fault when you are at fault!

I think there might be other circumstances that we do not know about, tying in with your mothers reaction. If I had to spank my children, it was their punishment. I would add nothing to it unless they lied to me about what they had done. Then I would have to add a punishment for the lying. I do not know all the information that your mother received, but I do believe that a spanking is warranted if the person receiving the spanking had struck someone else.

I believe so, cause no smart guy would hit his sister or any girl... if you do, you know you ain't got a life and you'll probably end up being a wife-beater... so two thumps up for your mom for teaching you a lesson.... and I hope you learned your lesson, if not, you got a long way to go....

Yes. Your sister is an adult and you need yto respect her. I believe in spanking and I would've tarred your hind end also. The one thing I would've done differently is to explain why I spanked you afterwards.

Why shouldnt she have spanked you?She taught you that your behavior was NOT going to be tolerated.You said you learned from that, so she hasnt had to repeat it again has she?Obviously it worked.
