I think you don't know what you are even asking with this question.

Simplified, atheism means that someone does not believe in any such god, that also goes for anything in the bible, including satan.

Atheists don't listen to "satanic death metal" more, that I have ever come across, but to actually hear an atheist listen willfully and enjoy christian rock, where the band sings and praises all the lord's miracles, love and wonderment, I find rather amusing in itself.

This sounds like rhetorical opinion more than a question considering that not all atheists are in the 14-29 age. Atheists span all age groups, all ethnic groups, all races. Why should "satanic death metal" and "christian rock" be the only choices? Are you christian?

I listen to niether.I like Classical,Folk,Alternative,Bluegrass,Blues,Jazz, and many others.I don't really care for most metal although some of the bands are okay when I'm in the right mood.

Edit:...and actually it's very popular for refined atheists to listen to classical.Especially in the 19th Century.Nietzsche dedicated his 1st book to Richard Wagner and his music. Actually, the whole book circled around music and tragedy(The Birth of Tragedy).Richard Wagner had a song called Twilight of the Gods.Strauss's Also Sprach Zarathustra was based off Nietzsche's book that had the famous God is Dead quote,Thus Spoke Zarathustra.

I actually listen to some bands that are Christian...but not Christian bands.Switchfoot is one.I used to like P.O.D. as a kid too.I only listen to metal when I'm really angry and need something hard sounding when I get bored of punk and hardcore.

i actually don't listen to either. i listen to classic rock, alternative, pop, and punk. death metal is scary and christian rock is boring.

dark side of the bible? isn't the bible supposed to be full of good and positive stories? oh wait, that's just what they emphasize in church, they tend to ignore or not teach the "minor" or "evil" stuff.

Not an atheist, not a Christian. Don't like either. I usually listen to classical.

Sorry? Satanic death metal makes me feel sad and dirty inside. I'll avoid it unless I'm in a horrible mood. Christian rock makes me angry, because like most Christian activities, it is designed to try to force you to join Christianity... and most of the time it is sappy cliches repeated in an unimaginative fashion. I would listen to more Christian rock if they made good songs with creative lyrics.

Why are you generalizing? Not all atheists listen to or would prefer to listen to satanic death metal. And just for the record, I have an athiest friend who listens to KLOVE radio station.

Really? Is that all I listen to? I suppose the Tibetan Tantric Chant I like is "death metal"? And the cultural Native American music, the Arabic music, etc. is "death metal"?

Now I know my Rammstein and others I like are rather rambunctious, but I also like Schiller, Darude, Oakenfold, Vangelis, Kitaro...

Dude you really have GOT to stop generalizing... music is what you make of it... it doesn't control you unless you let it.

Who says atheists prefer death metal? You must be making that up. God will send you to hell for being dishonest.
