this was not something that i have ever heard of but read the 2 articles that you supplied and the link at the bottom of the article to see the pictures
Im going to start by saying i honestly dont know what exactly caused this but to my eye that isnt the virgin mary, it appears to be glowing light over the church, this could be due to electric charges building up in the atmosphere around the domes. the location of this leads people to read something into the event and believe they see the virgin mary in what is nothing more than a natural weather phenomenon.
Like i said i dont know for certain but that is how i would explain it.

Oh God :o) here we go. First of all let me explain to you that poeple DO create images of things that don't exist! There are so many reasons for this and its easy to explain. #1 lets agree that a SMALL percentage of this are just plain crazy people. If you don't even accept that, then you should accept jesus is currently here on earth because the homeless people in NYC seem to scream it all the time.
#2. As far as proof goes, a witness is often the WORST proof you can ever come up with. Crime scenes, UFO reports, Crop circles, naturally occuring events (volcanos, shooting stars, etc.) are often reported by many poeple, yet at the same time reported in very different ways with huge errors.
#3 People make up what they WANT to see, WANT to feel, WANT to have happen. if you are talking scientifically (which I'm sure you are not because I can tell by your question you are below average intelligence), the human brain always plays visual tricks on the eyes. The placebo effect is a perfect example. you are saying, oh look! A sugar pill must fix these things! No people even in clinical trials report things happening that they are creating just because they are influenced.
4. Even if they are not making things up and actually are looking at things from an objective point of view, errors still occur for many reasons. People MAKE THINGS UP when they don't understand what they are looking at. So reports of a "snake god swallowing the moon" must be true hundreds of years ago yes? Because we didn't understand a lunar cycle, the ONLY rational response must be the snake god. Or how about earthquakes thousands of years ago, is God mad at us? This is exactly the type of mentality that makes christianity so pathetic. You WANT to believe, you NEED to believe. Oh here's some other examples of people seeing jesus...... these have actually happened, I'm just too lazy to get the references. Just google it you'll find them.
Woman finds jesus in pizza
Woman finds jesus in wooden door.
Jesus is seen in the dirt of a pickup truck.
Let me ask you a question. If these were PROVEN to be false images would you then admit you were wrong and not believe in Jesus anymore? Well then what difference does it make?

What did YOU make up about it? People see flying saucers too, and get abducted, but you don't see me running around telling everyone that we're being watched by aliens. So what? It's an event that is unexplainable, and most religious people want to explain the unexplainable through some sort of miraculous divinity proof. There is an explanation somewhere, but the faithfull refuse to look for it. I simply don't really want to know... I'm not a scientist. I don't need to explain it. I'm at peace and okay with not knowing why or how. Same as I am with not knowing what's in the middle of the earth. It doesn't affect me to know or not to know. I'll be okay either way.

If Egyptian TV did broadcast it, where is the tape? And I can't believe with so many millions of people who saw this event, not one of them had a camera!
It may be an urban myth, it may be mass hysteria (which has been know to occur before), it may be people seeing what they want to see (as in cloud formations), it may be been a publicity stunt by the Egyptian TV station, it may bad retelling or exaggerated story, it may be that someone is deliberately lying, or practicing self-deception, it may be a rocket test which can produce interesting patterns from its exhaust.
Before you claim that the Virgin Mary appeared, shouldn't you discount the other possibilities first? Not everything on the Internet is true; perhaps you would like to back your claim by other methods, or at least check out this claim before you broadcast it as truth.

Interesting....neither article shows this alleged media photo that you speak of.....
You know, there are certain types of mold that cause hallucinations. And, the best part is, you dont have to be Christian, atheist or Muslim to feel the effects of those hallucinations...
So, everyone within eye site of this "apparition" were simply exposed to some hallucinogenic mold. Big deal. Proves nothing.

As an atheist Buddhist, I have an explanation and I believe that such things are entirely possible, but my explanation would do far more damage to your concepts than you could imagine and I STILL do not believe in an omnipotent creator being. If you want to know what I understand about apparitions that makes me believe they're possible, and have happened and why I'm still atheist... study Buddhism.

I have seen these "apparations" and others. It's like seeing a rabbit in the clouds. People will make their minds see what they want.
Houston recently have a pizza pan, or something like that, with one of the apparations. It was funny. It looked like a grease stain to me. But, what do I know. I can't see the hidden pictures in those things in the mall either.

Mass hysteria and Alien Skin's Eye Candy (A Photoshop plug-in). That is only one explanation, by the way. I can give ya lots of them.
I once made a poster of a well-known actress, topless, with horns and big fiery wings behind her. That doesn't mean she has horns and big, fiery wings. It just means I thought it was mildly amusing and would make a good gift for another friend.
He loves it. His wife hates it. It hangs proudly on his wall...

What is there to explain? A number of people saw a figure over a church. I fail to see what this has anything to do with me being an atheist. How do you explain rocks?

You missed a few important words in that Wiki, namely the word" purported". "According to purported witnesses" Basically none of that can be verified. Nothing more than mass delusion.
Millions of morons watched the "loose change" videos and believe the lies on it. Simpletons can be convinced of anything.
