Well, Wiccans generally follow an Earth based spirituality. Beliefs range from a monotheistic perspective to a polytheistic to pantheism. Remember that Christians don't have the say-so on who or what God is. So, while Wiccan practices may not fall in line with the Christian perspective of what God is, you are free to define God as you best understand him/her/it.

Blessed be. :)

If you are asking the question of a Wiccan - then the answer at it's true core would be 'no there is nothing wrong with that'.

Like with any religion or belief system you will have differing interpretations of what it means to be Wiccan and what is required.

Generally Wicca has a principle of 'live and let live' - so it is as suggested, what you want to make the higher power mean to you.

If you are to ask that question of a Christian - again I am sure you will receive varying answers depending on their interpretation of the bible.

If you are thinking: "well how can people interpret something like the Bible or the Wiccan Rede in different ways?"

Think about you and another standing in a room with 4 corners. And in the middle of the room is a vase filled with flowers.

What you see that vase looking like from your angle will be different to the other person who is standing in a different corner.

So too with life and how we interpret the stimulus we are given - it depends on what our needs are, our existing beliefs, our fears and so forth.

So if you are interested in Wicca - by all means explore it.

And then I encourage you to make choices based on what feels right for you in YOUR heart.

As opposed to reacting out of fear or choosing based on what you think you should do.

So again - the only thing to stop you learning about Wicca and believing in God is truly you.

Blessings

Traditional Wicca ( Gardnerian and Alexandrian) pay equal attention to both the God and the Goddess.

The distortion that Wicca worshipped only a Goddess came with the rise of "Feminist Wicca", and the influence of the Susan B Anthony Coven.

There is nothing wrong with reading books about another religion. You would not be eligible for intiation into a tradtitional wiccan group if you did not abide by their faith & practice. But there is nothing wrong with reading & learning about ecclectic wicca. Any information that you get from a book is going to be "outer court" information anyway... However if you decide to practice magic, you may run into trouble as the bible has specific taboos about magic. There is very little you can pull off with out "sinning." The caveat to this is if you still fully believe in God, then you also believe thatyou can pray for forgiveness... that your soul can be washed clean. Most types of magic are forbidden in the bible, for example- divinatory arts, consorting with spirits, sorcery, poisoining, even ledger demain... however there is one type of magic that is not forbidden, and is actually used quite extensively in the church that is Theurgy, or working directly with the power of god. So if you practice only Theurgy, and work with the Mary, Jesus, ahd JhVh as your pantheon, then you are commiting no sin. Is it wicca? no- not in the tradtitional sense, but so many ecclectic practices are utilized nowadays, that pretty much anything can be lumped into neo-wicca or non tradtitional wicca.

I am a believer in Christ also. And for a short time I was also studying Wiccan religion as well. I made the conscoius decision, however, that should my practice of wicca ever compromise by beliefs in Christ that I would stop immediately. And that is exactly what happened. The devil used it as a way for me to start questioning my own spiritual beliefs.

I maintain that wicca is real. However, I came to the conclusion that God and the Bible was all I needed. I do not need to know about the elements and how they interact. Or anything else. All I need to know is what God needs me to know and therein lies the issue of faith.

We were given the ability to learn, create, and evolve. But all I need to know is what God tells me. And He tells me everything I need to know when I read the Bible. I do not have to cast a spell for better understanding of myself, I just ask God. I do not have to cast spells for money or success because God will grant me those things. I do not have to cast spells to bring love or friendship or to help others in need of love or friendship. God does all that for me.

Wiccan beliefs and Christianity are not all the different. They believe in a higher power. They believe a final battle between good and evil will take place, although the names are different. The defining thing for me was the fact that Jesus Christ is considered just a prophet. That was the problem! Wiccans (most) believe that Jesus was not the Son of God. This is the core belief with Christians. The resurection becomes incarnation because Wiccans believe one cannot learn everything we need to learn in one lifetime.

So you see, these two belief systems generally contradict each other which makes being a Christian and a Wiccan hard to maintain..... Afterall, the Bible teaches us that a slave cannot have two masters....

You CANNOT believe in a false god and study Wicca.

You either believe in The Elements, or you believe in the Christian god. You cannot believe in both. It is a contradiction and frowned upon.

Choose one.

Either the Goddess will be angry with you for believing a false god.

Or the Christian god will be angry with you for studying a religion other than his own, 'cause he's selfish.

Wicca is a religion all it's own. That's like being.. A Christian Buddhist. Not gonna happen.

Just like any of your tastes or opinions, your spirituality belongs only to you. When it comes to your beliefs, there's no such thing as "you're not allowed." Other people can tell you that you're wrong, but what makes them more qualified than you to decide what you believe? Personally I think there are good and bad aspects of christianity, and the same with wicca. Actually nature religions had huge formative influences on Christianity. Early Christianity spread like it did because it adapted and incorporated 'pagan' rituals and holidays. Christmas and Easter are on the dates they are because those were pagan feast days. The germanic spring holiday Oestre celebrated new life with bunny and egg symbols. Coincidence?

Wiccans, from what I've read, believe in both a God and a Goddess......a mother AND a father.
According to the christian religion, yes, it would be wrong to pursue wicca if you are still a christian. But not everyone who believes in God is necessarily a christian.

Basic Wicca tends to believe in a God and a Goddess, who are represented by the various Gods and Goddesses of the pagan faiths, and whose parallel you will see in the Christian birth of Jesus to Mary.
