Prayer is communication. Why do you talk to your best friend - why is that good? The difference is that when you communicate with God you have power infused into your life. Power to live, overcome, know His will and thereby direct your decisions for eternal good. Power to be at peace when all else is not at peace. Power to effect change within the timing and purposes of God. Power to be in line with God as a partner of God in this earth. Power to see beyond the moment and beyond yourself. Power to love, bask, dwell and enjoy the Presence of God in your life. Increase of understanding, increase of joy, increase of knowledge and increase of spiritual momentum. When I get up from intense prayer, I feel like I've just had a warm refreshing, cleansing bath. It is a wonderful feeling of being light and "on top of the world." And I have the satisfaction of knowing that all is right between me and the Lord and that I am in harmony with His will. And that what I've committed to Him in prayer, He is able to keep and work out those things that need to be changed. It is a Divine, Eternal appointment time for me to meet with my God. It is precious, powerful, eternal and vital. That is why I pray.

I assume You are not a christian. I pray because Jesus is my Savior, I love Him. There many reasons I can tell you why I pray but the main one is because I LOVE My Savior and what He has done for me on the cross that I have eternal life. Anyone you love you want to talk to them that's all prayer is. Also when I sin I confess my sins in prayer.

Prayer is are communication with heavenly father. We can know his will by personal revelation beyond books but must be worthy and mostly clean to be intune with the spirit.
It is good to pray to communicate with God and help ourselfs remain consistant in our scheduals and be guided.
Have you felt the spirit?
Have you had person revelation?
It is a promise in the book of Mormon that those who read fully and ask God in the name of christ if the book and church is true will recieve personal revelation of it.
Thats a promise from God not man.
I testify that there is one true church, faith, God and baptism.
Take the challenge and see for yourself.

Prayer is simply a conversation with the Lord. You talk to Him like you would your parents. About anything, anytime, for any reason. It is what keeps believers connected to the Holy Spirit for divine leadership and guidance as well as to know the Truth..

Prayer completes the living relationship we have with God.
Pray and give praise.
Pray to ask for stuff (yourself, family, friends, & society)
Pray to listen.
Pray to ask 4 forgivness & mercy.
Pray to share jokes, heartackes, and progress reports.
Think about it. If you stopped calling & hanging out with your best friend ... well, they'll probably allway love you, but you're kinda out of the loop. You'll miss yoodles and it takes serious time and energy to catch up with them; if you can do it at all.
Hey, once we've mastered prayer (praise, thanks, asking, & listening), we've got a head start on how to deal with family & friends here on Earth. God teaches us how to love him first, so we can use this to love each other.

The purpose of prayer is to communicate with God through His Son Jesus Christ. Good communication is necessary for a healthy relationship with God the same as it is necessary for all other relationships in our lives-marriage, parent/child, coworkers, boss/employee.

It draws you closer to God. If you had a friend and you never spoke to them, they wouldn't be much of a friend. So, prayer is a way for us to feel close to God and for us to demonstrate our faith in his love for us and concern for us.

It's talking to our heavenly father....inviting Him into our everyday life....seeking His wisdom and guidance....and His will....thanking and praising Him....asking Him to meet our needs and desires....interceding on behalf of others....or just spending time with Him as you would any friend you love and value.
