My 6 year old loves watching the food channel and helping me cook dinner. He wants to make a dessert with me. Do you have any ideas of something pretty simple and I wouldn't have to take a long trip to the grocery store? *Something different then cookies please!!!**

Caramel Apple Cookie
INGREDIENTS
3 Red Delicious apples - peeled, cored and sliced
2 cups apple juice
1 (18 ounce) package refrigerated sugar cookie dough
3 tablespoons white sugar
1 (18 ounce) container caramel dip
DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a cookie sheet.
Place apple slices in a bowl and cover with apple juice.
Roll out cookie dough onto prepared sheet. Sprinkle with sugar.
Bake in preheated oven 5 to 7 minutes, until set.
Warm the caramel dip in the microwave, and spread most of it over the cooled cookie. Remove the apple slices from the juice and arrange in rows over the caramel. Drizzle remaining caramel over apples. Cut into squares to serve.

I know you said something different then cookies, but no bake cookies are always good.

No hot stoves ( other than boiling the ingredients). He can help u add the ingredients to the pot ( carefully) and help you drop the cookies on the wax paper.

Also, you can make PLAYDOH with him! Oh he'll love that one!
Their are different kinds of recieps for this, you can google it.(They even have edible playdough)

You can google " Cooking with kids" and other varations of that and u can find loads of stuff to do with him.

I have a 6yr old sister, so I know how hard it is to keep them interested. Make it fun. Let them help, measure, and mix.

Have fun!

chess pie.
we get those chess cookies from pepperidge farms-2 pkg.
2 packets of pudding mix
milk for the pudding mix
cool whip - one tub
cream cheese - one block

in a bowl i mix everything ( the milk measurement is on the pudding package. your just adding the cream cheese and cool whip to it)
beat on low till fully mixed. then in a casserole dish, line it with the chess cookies. then pour the HALF of "pudding" and spread it out. then put down another layer of the chess cookies and then put the other half of the pudding no top. spread out. then refrigerate for 4hours or do this at nite and let set over nite. this can be cut with a knife, it gets so firm its so creamy when you eat it! yummmmmm gosh i havent made this in a long time lol

Crepes of course. They are easy to make, fun to bake, and delicious to eat. Here is a recipe, but instead of using water, use whole milk
http://www.theworldwidegourmet.com/?action=recette_show&id=805&lg=en

For cooking them, use frying pan with butter (not too much, just to grease it) and put some batter in it : THEY HAVE TO BE THIN, not like pancakes. Now the real fun is to flip the crepe without using a spatula. It's a trick of the wrist to have the crepe jump and flip in the air, but hey, kids love it.

Have fun and bon appétit

I have a 6 year old brother and he LOVES to cook with me. I love to cook too. Whenever i babysit him ( which is alot) we cook. He likes to make dessert too.

Some desserts are...

- sundaes

- cupcakes with different candies to decorate them with

- bake a cake and buy different colors of icing and candies to decorate the cake ( i did this all the time when i was little!)

Some other things that aren't dessert are...

- make your own pizza's ( my family does this all the time) you get pizza dough, they probably have it at your grocery store, they have pillsbury pizza dough too, Buy olives, onions, mushrooms, pepperoni, or whatever you want and cheese. Everybody gets to make their own mini pizza with the topping they want. (Just read the directions on the package for cooking time)

- Lasagna is always fun for little kids to put together

- Make faces or cars out of fruits and veggies and toothpicks

- make mini burgers, make little meat pattys and little buns
(they might have them @ your grocery store) get one of those medium tomatos that are oval shaped and pickle slice and whatever else you want on your burger, they are so cute with 1 pickle and a mini patty hehe
