I have several cats that try the keyboard trick when they want affection. Niobi waits for me to begin typing. She runs across the keyboard to the other side and sits and waits. I put everything on the screen that she messed up and get it back to normal. Niobe waits. I start to type--here she comes again and starts all over. She does this several times until I take time to pet and rub her which is what she wants. It wouldn't be so bad, but now she is teaching 2 more of my other cats ROTFL!!!!!!

Haha, kitty wants your attention. Your sitting in front of the computer and she's trying to figure out what it is that is amusing you because your sitting there staring at an object, so she's trying to figure it out, and she wants attention!! When I come on the laptop, like right now, my cat always walks in front of it and on it to block me, all she wants is some love, and kisses! Once she's content she'll sit next to me and sleep.

My cat also does this...I thought it was just my cat, haha. My only guess is that A. they like the light, or B. they are very jealous because they think you are paying more attention to something else instead of them. I have no idea what to do about it other than to pay more attention to my cat :p

My kitty kat crys!

she will sit at the bottom of the stairs and say "hello" in a crying manner!
and she will keep doing this even know she bloody well knows that our bedroom doors are open for her to walk on in. She doesnt want anything just for you to call her name.. She then makes a really loud purring sound and miows at the same time.. So weird

Cats like to be the center of attention, you're obviously paying more attention to the computer currently so she's trying to convince you to focus on her instead. My cat used to lay on the paper or a book I was trying to read...usually if you pay some attention to them, they get tired of you and wander off, short attention spans =o)

She wants your attention because at the moment you're giving it to the pc monitor. Notice as soon as you give in and pay attention to her after about a minute she'll just walk off expecting you to follow her. And just when you thought you could sit at the pc again, back she comes lol!

what is she laying over the mouse mat? or did you mean the cat is LYING on the mat, if you have a cat door, block it up and then chase the damned moggie, it is a real hoot when they hit a blocked cat door at high speed

It's called cat humour
get used to it.
I have 14 cats and they spend more time in front of the monitor than I do

My cat does this too!!! It is a combination of wanting to hog all the attention and the heat that is generated by them. But it's sooooo cute. My husband puts word up and lets Pudding type his own stuff!

She wants attention, she's jealous for the mousemat is getting your undivided attention. Either that or she is waiting for the 'Mouse' on the 'Mat'! Get it....
