I feed a family of seven BIG eaters. And we all like our meat and vegetables and fruit.

I usually spend $250 per week on groceries, which might need to be supplemented through the week for milk and bread.

This week my grocery bill was $350, because I bought some really nice boneless pork roasts for future dinners (on sale) and put them in the freezer.

We spend £120 every two weeks at tesco online for a family of 4 with 3 floating stepkids who spend 50% of the time here. Then I spend another say £20 - £30 a week on fresh veg and bread etc. so that is about £80 a week or $41. Then you have £80 per month on school dinners.

U.S. family of four (including two adult children-that's another question!), I spend around $150 per week unless one of the "kids" feels a guilty pang and picks up dinner for us once in a while. It is expensive to live here and I do admit that I don't look for the specials like I did when the kids were younger and we were poorer. Wish I were more self sufficient although we do have a nice garden in the summer.

I have to feed myself, my husband, and two children (ages 20 months old and 3 years old.) It costs us (on the average month) between $700 and $800 for groceries. Yes, I am self-sufficient. My husband is a stay at home dad, and I work to support the family.

Hello:

We typically spend about $70-$80.00 a week for groceries which really isn't that much when you consider SOME families are spending $300.00 a week for groceries, and there are only three people in their family. My DH and I buy things that are on sale and stock up especially when there is a sale on our favorite toilet paper, and non perishable items. Lately,we have been able to buy milk for $2.00 a gallon,so we bought six gallons, because we go through alot of milk with cereal, and other meals. We will spend over $100.00 if we need to stock up on personal care supplies, vitamins, laundry detergent, and other household items that we always need to keep in stock.

We are on a very tight budget so we have to watch every penny that we spend. I have always wondered how nice it must be when I see some people who don't even look at the prices at the grocery stores or Super Wal-Mart,they just load up and buy as much as they want. I cook all of our meals at home,so that helps to really save on the grocery bill, because it is cheaper than going out to eat. Every once in awhile we will go to a fast food restaurant, but usually I am the chef of the house!! I hope that this has been helpful?? ;-)

when i was in shxx state several years ago, i had no money because of divorce, child support agency etc, i could live healthily, on £25 per week, however! an this is a big however, if i wasnt a qualified and experieced chef, with all the knowledge and training i had accumalated over 25 years i can honestly say i probably would of either starved or ended up living on the street cause i wouldnt of been able to feed myself and pay my rent.

My wife and I spend about $110.00 a week. However, household cleaners , personal products, over the counter meds, laundry items all fall under the Groceries line item. During garden season our bill is cut back as well as during hunting season. I can foods, cook, hunt, smoke meat ,make sausage, butcher and pretty much would not starve without a store.

I spend about $60 per week to feed my daughter, me, our two dogs, and our frog. By the end of the month, our groceries add up to around $250. And over the course of a year.... We get help around the holidays because of leftovers, so I would say I spend about about $2750 per year on food.

And no, I am not self sufficient. I depend on the store to supply me with food and on my boss to supply me with the money to get the food.

What about you?

For the two of us adults, we spend an average of $400 a month on food. We're trying to lower that number by looking for sales and using coupons. But food's expensive here. I'd like to get the number down to about $250 a month.
