Get either medium or light brown highlights, or try red highlights. You could also dye in red underneath (a dark, wine-colored red).
If you already have dark hair, then don't dye it lighter and give it dark streaks--keep your color and give lighter streaks (it will be less expensive and just makes more sense).
Good luck!

I wouldn't go with the black, because that would be too big a contrast. If you want light brown hair as your base color, then I'd go with warm dark brown underneath, and either warm dark brown or maybe auburn (dark red-brown) streaks/highlights. I have light brown hair with natural auburn highlights, and I don't see a lot of people with that--plus, it's cool, because people think my hair changes colors, depending on what light I'm in.
I'm all for not doing the blonde highlight thing--that's getting so overdone! Have fun with it!

If you get black in your hair it is almost impossible to get out once it's put in. I would go dark brown with carmel highlights and not blonde or I had a girlfriend that had dark brown hair and she had dark auburn lowlights put in and that looked awesome. Good luck!

Try brown with strawberry blonde streaks. That will still give you a look that you want but you won't look like every other girl

Yeah, ask your stylist. It can be wierd sometimes but they ar esuch a good resource. And don't be afraid to be picky! Its your hair and you have to look at it everymorning until the next change. So if they start to whip out colors you don't like, speak up.
I think your right, stay away from obnoxious i-have-a-tiger-on-my-head colorings. You could dry very subtle dark auburn lights.

Red highlights would be great. Red will warm up your hair and look natural :) Good luck!

Shoot for colors that compliment your type-warm, cool-your stylist can help with that. Also, I had been thinking of going brown with caramel and cinnamon-just to make it different
