It’s pretty obvious that Iran is trying to start a confrontation with the West by their actions. And this is the same country that is slowly building a nuclear arsenal. I wish that westerners would put aside their political differences for just a moment and realize that attacking Bush and Blair is not the appropriate response to the Iran “hostage” situation. We need to stand firm and say the actions of Iran are completely uncalled for.

People like to compare apples and oranges, but you cannot compare the captured British soldiers to those detained at Guantanamo:
1. Guantanamo detainees were caught on the battlefield fighting against Coalition forces, the Brits were kidnapped by Iran in Iraqi waters.
2. Gitmo detainees are catalogued so we know exactly where they are, unlike the Brits.
3. Gitmo detainees are allowed to be visited by the Red Cross, Red Crescent, and other human rights organizations, unlike the Brits.
4. Gitmo detainees are not paraded on tv and forced to read statements

Look at the language of those letters that were released … “withdraw from Iraq”, “leave the Iraqis to build their own future.” Anyone with half a brain knows Iran wants Iraq for themselves and are simply arming the militias. Why not go into Iran because for all intents and purpose we’re already fighting them.

'Snapes' ..... I would say that any country that denies the Holocaust, says that they want to "wipe Israel off the map", funnels weapons to the Iraqi insurgents, and provides money, weapons, training and safe-haven to Hezbollah is indeed OUT OF CONTROL.

There are people in our countries who hate themselves, hate their governments, and hate their own culture.

These people will always side with the enemy, no matter how bad they are, or what they've done. It's delusional. No matter how bad Iran is, or how wrong they are, these self-haters in our midst will always see their own nation as the bad guy.

So don't hold your breath. LOL.

You act like the US has done nothing to provoke Iran. The US still has not released the five Iranian diplomats it has detained, and the arrest of the 15 British sailors should be seen as a response to that. Furthermore, the Iranian government MAY be trying to develop nuclear weapons (still no proof), but why do you suppose that is? Could it be that Iran saw two of its neighbors occupied by the US and British military and does not want to share that fate?

Look, the Iranians are always being accused of belligerence by the US, but it is in fact the US that has the greatest record of belligerence. And before you pull that tired old line about "Israel being wiped of the map," (a mistranslation mind you) Israel does not have any rights over land which it stole in the first place. Ahmadinejad is not talking about blowing up a country, he's saying that the Palestinians deserve their land back. If they did have it back, then yes, Israel would cease to exist, but we're not talking about nuclear war here. We're talking about a one state solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict.

I agree that public opinion has long gone against Obama in the previous few months. The blame is normally placed on well-being care reform, cap and commerce, the stimulus, and unemployment. greater suitable than specific matters, there are particular dynamics that specify it. First, i think of the administration appeared to stay out of diverse the discussions in congress. So some matters look greater like congressional initiatives than the president's. human beings have been looking forward to greater direction from the president. Congress and Pelosi are much less perplexing to dislike. those opposing Obama say he would desire to concentration on the financial device earlier going into different issues. no longer something has come back from the administration and its supporters protecting that the 1st issues that occurred whilst Obama got here to workplace have been the stimulus kit and different steps to shore up the financial device. on the time (a million 3 hundred and sixty 5 days in the past) Obama stated it would take 2 years. so some distance the stimulus has saved or created someplace between a million.7 and a pair of.0 million jobs, finding on who you pay attention too. GDP is turning out to be. activity loss has stopped. shape is beginning take place. Housing costs have stabilized. Housing sales greater suitable. There seems to be progression against the Taliban. common issues have become better at a %. that would desire to be expected. i think of a lot of human beings think of issues would desire to be getting better greater right now and that contributes to the negativity.

Get this straight. The liberal democrat manifesto states:

We must win in '08. Everything else is just a distraction. We must get Bush to pull the troops out before we take over so we can blame the resulting loss on him. If the new Iraqi government manages to survive that will vindicate us anyway. Under no circumstances can we afford to have American troops deployed in harms way while we are in office. We have no idea how to fight wars or any of that stuff. If we are attacked again we will just keep blaming Bush.

We don't care if they take Boots the cat hostage in Iran, under no circumstances are we to antagonize the Iranians. It will make us look bad.

We must focus on our strengths like universal health care and ending unemployment with all the bureaucrats we will need to hire to run the health care system.

Now repeat after me....the enemy is not Iran the enemy is Bush.

No,

If your talking about American civilians I think they will do what they always have done in the past. They will try to stick their heads in the sand and wait. I think they will attempt to ignore a problem until it gets so huge that they have absolutely no choice but to deal with it under the worst possible conditions.

I would get frustrated and mad about it if I didnt know that this is just the way people are, especially American civilians. They attempt to ignore problems and hope they just go away.

Iran for all intensive purposes has been at war with us since 1976, and they just keep getting worse and worse. For the most part, in the past they have not been in a position to do much damage to us except funding organizations that can do small scale terrorist activities.

As time goes on this is changing. Iranian defectors have told the US that Iranian generals of the Peoples Revolutionary Gaurd helped Al-Quada personnel plan the 9/11 attacks and the preceding attacks on the two US Embassys in Africa.

Currently they provide funding, training, and weapons to Shiite militias in Eastern Iraq.
They provide fundng, training, and weapons to Hamas in Gaza.
They provide funding, training, and weapons to Hezbollah in Lebonan.

Every Friday in Tehran the Islamic "revolutionary" government funds the "death to America" parade. This happens weekly.

If they had the ability to wipe us off the face of the earth they would without question. There would be no free discussion about it amoung their people, there would be no second guessing their administration, like we have here in the US.

Right now, right or wrong the US government is attempting to do damage control and limit Irans ability to damage us. I think that the administration will fail to do this since popular support is lacking. I think that Iran will continue to gain power, and eventually there will be a much larger confrontation with them.

It could happen 2 years from now, or it could happen 20 years from now. Eventually we will have to go to war with them, I just hope that if I ever have kids this problem will have been dealt with prior to my children having to take care of it because my generation didnt have the balls to.

why do you think that the guantanamo detainees are not paraded on television? because they are routinely beaten and tortured, thats why!!!
they are sporadically visited by people who report the marks and bruises, if you doyou arent believe me check out the amnesty international website. they were not captured on the battlefield, many were sold by enemies. this is why they have not yet stood trial. you are correct in that the two situations are different, the british detainees are being treated well, the opposite is true for the guantanamo bay detainees.

The simple answer to your question is NO. Some people are not interested in the truth or reality. They are so busy playing their games. If Iran started nuking everybody, they would still claim they were peace loving because that is what fits in with their distorted reality.

I agree with you, but unfortunately, the answer to your question is no.

Most people can't even find Iran on a map yet alone make an educated guess about the country's true intentions.

That is just the tip of the iceberg. In common with all Muslim countries, they want every one who is not Muslim either dead or enslaved. A confrontation which leads to a war is as good an excuse as any to murder non muslims. After all, Allah has commanded that muslims kill everyone who does not worship him.
