Speaking as a Pagan married to an atheist, I find my atheist very cute, cuddly, and huggable. But Frank Zaccaro, a Christian preaching the Gospel on the University of Florida campus, screamed when a student atheist group offering free hugs approached him.
By the way, I know one of the huggers, and he's really huggable, too. Zaccaro missed out.
If you wouldn't let an atheist hug you, why not?

I've long past left college. :-)
I know some people don't like to be touched, in all religions, but to jump back and scream? Just seems too much.

I'm a Christian, and I would have no problem hugging an atheist. I may not agree with their beliefs, but that's no reason to shun them.

Being a Pagan as well, I don't see why people would turn down a hug from anyone, no matter their belief. A few exceptions for me would of course include if the person just made my skin crawl from their personality, or using it to their own advantage (need I explain that meaning?).
Still, I'd accept a hug from anyone, even anothe rmale if there were a justified reason than to kill time.

I'm Agnostic, and would never turn down a hug from an Atheist!
My Atheist friends are much more intelligent and interesting than any of the religious people I know.

Yes, i would hug any body who needs a hug its nothing wrong with that. God made all human beings.
John 15:9 "As the Father loved me, I also have loved you; abide in my love. Mr. Zaccaro needs to be more like Jesus! To the Pagan and Atheist:
Psalm 53:1 The fool has said in his heart, "There is no God".
How could you not be a believer of God when it is evidence all around you of his marvelous existence.

Of course not. Jesus used to eat with evil people. God loves equally all the people and wants us to be like him. So, why can't we get a hug from an theist? There's no loss. We should be friendly with other people and tell them about our religion ideas, but not force them as the choice is theirs. If we forcefully want to convert someone, than his heart and mind can never be converted. So, there is no use of having enmity towards irreligous people. It only discourages someone from taking our religions. Therefore, your Frank isn't better than the atheists, as he isn't like God at all.... However, his action was natural if they were of the opposite sex.
Also, almost all people offering hugs are atheists because they do not share a relationship with God and are lonely. So, refusing them for such neat, harmless social acts can depress them and cauuse them much pain.

I would take a hug no matter who offered as long has they were non-threatening. Mr. Zaccaro, won't win many lost souls if he isn't willing to mix with the masses and forgive the unforgivable.

Yep, it was a little bit much, i mean, okay, so he can refuse politely, but not scream. it depends on the atheist as well. If it's a gay, no. A straight atheist, I don't mind so much even though it might be a little bit awkward. lol

I like hugs, I'm a Pagan and I think of hugging as a hobby! Some people are just plain damaged.
