Ok,an overwhelming answer to my last question about athiest being indoctrinated was "we have free will".
If you have free will;what on God's green Earth makes you think Christians and others dont have free will?That is pretty much what your saying when you say people of faith are indoctrinated.That we supposedly dont have free will.Do athiests not think that people of faith also made a choice of thier own free will to believe in God?

I'm not an atheist, but I think an atheist could say that the problem with indoctrination is compounded by human free will. It would be bad enough if Christians were indoctrinated and there was nothing they could do about. But that Christians willingly allow themselves to become indoctrinated truly heinous.
The problem with this is that we are all indoctrined! Every human on the face of the earth has a system of belief through which they understand the world. The question is, which system of belief is the correct paradigm through which to interpret reality? I thank the Lord that I am indoctrinated with beliefs that he has revealed so that I can understand things as he understands them.

Actually, what they are argueing is that free will and an all knowing god cannot coexist, because free will is imaginery if ANYONE can know your decision ahead of time. Its like watching a movie you've seen before... you want that main character to make another decision, but you've seen the movie before, and you already know what they choose. Essentially, you are god in that moment... you already know what will be chosen, so your want of a different choice is irrelevent.

Now, tell me you have the free will to beleive in something OTHER than what you were raised to accept as the only truth...(well, you DO have the free will - but your fear and indoctrination and respect for your father prevents that)
See, you are misunderstanding what we are saying. Most of us atheists were, at one time, indoctrinated in to one faith or another. We've moved beyond that. Its time EVERYONE does. The time for mysticism is dead.

Are you the religion that your parents taught you to be? Did you just blindly follow it and never question it? Or did you actually research other options to find one that fit you the best? (i'm not trying to insult you by this, but this is the point of free will..most believers are their religion because it was the one that was "taught" to them)
Most Atheists didn't start off as atheists. They did their own research and that's the conclusion that they came to.

Little kids that spend every weekend being told that science cannot possibly have any role in their lives have little hope of every really having free will. A child of 6 can not understand the biology of evolution or truly understand Creation and yet the Creationists teach them why evolution can't be right...no indoctrination or brainwashing there.

It is written that God's gift is not a question of human will or human effort, but of God's mercy. It depends not on one's own willingness nor on his strenuous exertion as in running a race, but on God' having mercy on him. Rom. 9 :16.
If you are chosen of God, He chose you, not you chose Him. There are two wills in this world ( good and evil ); which one are you ?

we aren't indoctinated into ANYTHING, buy a dictonary! yes, we atheists think beleivers have free will. we believe that we are ALL human!! and ALL equal!! and we have all the choice to believe in myth. Have fun with your santa claus...
