I don't know how stressful/demanding student teaching is or if it is easy to take time off...

Even if you do student teaching most schools get a fall break of some sort during the month of Oct. Just look at the school schedule and if anything get married on a long weekend on a Fri. or Sat. night and go somewhere close for your honeymoon that doesn't cost a lot of money, and then in the spring or summer take a nice long vacation for your honeymoon, that way it gives you a chance to save up more money so you can go somewhere that you both will love and enjoy.

I don't think the teacher you will be student teaching with will be too thrilled about taking off time for your wedding and honeymoon so early in the school year, and it's really important to shine on those evaluations from him/her, so I would suggest you either go for a late summer wedding right before school starts, or you wait a full year to get married next October, although you'll probably have a class of your own to teach by then, and your new principal won't be too stoked about her newest teacher taking off in October, either.

Write down the pro & cons to both and weigh them out. Check to see if you have a fall break. Ask a few students how stressful their student teaching was. I can't see it being that stressful and I bet you could take off. If not I'd go for the summer wedding.

have your wedding when you and your groom feel like it. my husband and i got married in october down in yellowstone national park. mind you we both worked down there at the same time. we were working double shifts half the time but you just have to designate jobs and go with the flow. the wedding is what you want it to be not a time line thing. the bridesmaids and maid of honor are there for a reason. be a general (lovely one) and designate, designate, designate

if you are concerned about honeymoon travel etc. go on a weekend away then plan for a bigger deal in the summer. get settled from the hub bub first. the name change thing is no biggy. i had a teacher that changed her name halfway through the year and it went over really well.

congrats on your engagement and pending marriage. god bless

I have student taught...Plan your wedding for Oct and take care of as many details as you can in the summer. If there is a break from school during that month, use that opportunity for your honeymoon.

October weddings are nice, i wanted November, but with teaching and all that comes with it, We've decided July is better. Otherwise, no honeymoon for us, not to mention, you would have already started the school year with your last name (maiden) and then having to change it to the new name mid -year? It doesn't work, especially for kids. Get married in the Summer, enjoy your honeymoon and then start the year fresh.

Any job you're starting at regardless of what it is will frown upon you taking time off right when you start. Maybe you should consider having your wedding in the summer if you feel you wont be able to handle the stress.

I had an Oct wedding and couldn't imagine doing it any other time. If you do it in the summer, you are going to have to make sure the outfits your wedding party wears won't make them sweat as it will be HOT!

Have it in summer. I always wanted a winter wedding, but had mine in the full heat of summer, because I was teaching.

well, without knowing more about your credential program i really can't tell you.

are you going to be working on course work too, or just teaching?

in my program we did both simultaneously, and i would've been way too busy to plan (or even attend) a wedding.

plus...you won't really be able to take time off for a honey moon even if all the planning didn't make you crazy.
