Am going to purchase a new digital camera. Should my present SD card reformat in the new camera?

Everybody! This is a great question!

Always, always (always) format the media in the camera you are using!!!!!!

Never the computer, never another camera. AND, reformat it on a regular basis in the camera, every month or two. It will save you a lot of grief.

It did, in our case! (In fact, we used an SD micro-plus-adapter that fit, once removed from the adapter, into the phone...no problem, going back and forth from PC to phone to camera. They just used different "folders".) As far as the cameras, ours were both Nikons, and both used ...down to ...was it \DCIM? I think was its name. We were able to erase on the PC side once downloaded or erase on the camera side.
